So what happens if our O line plays 5x better next year? Are we going to start from scratch with a new QB? For all of our problems, I feel that Bledsoe is near the bottom. BTW, what point were you trying to make with all the QB's you named and the 4 teams with more passing yards? We played the Eagles WITH McNabb, TWICE, and Culpepper was possibly the worst QB in the NFC this year BEFORE his injury. Everyone's got problems, it's how well you deal with those problems that determine your success.

Our O-line isn't going to magically be transformed over night.
The 4 teams I mentioned St. Louis,Arizona,Philly all have had major injuries this year, either at qb,WR, OL, whatever, yet have a higher passing ypg than we do and Arizona,Philly cant run the ball either and suspended TO. ST. Louis has Ryan Fitzsomebody as their starting qb. Your right when you say everyone's got problems and how you deal with them, but your wrong when you say Bledsoe is near the bottom of ours because he can't deal with problems. Everything has got to go his way in order for him to be effective, everything has to be perfect for him to succeed and that's why he was let go from his previous teams. If they thought he was near the bottom of their problems, they would have kept him. Buffalo knew they were going to struggle with Losman the first year, but they hope he may improve in time, but Bledsoe didn't get better, he got worse. Losman has had his moments this year and Holcomb's not doing too bad a job. They have problems other than qb play hurting them this year.

What I don't like about this season is that it is like many of our previous. We start out decent, then as the season wears on, instead of seeing improvement, we regress.

It's like that every year and I am sick of it. When will we improve when it matters most?

:hammer: I am not as optimistic as the original poster but I do see things that make me happy. But this reply line about how the 'NFC is down' is a joke. Just because the eagles arent that good, the NFC is 'down'. Last I checked 2 8-8 NFC teams made the playoffs last year. This year 10-6 might not get an NFC team in. NFC may not be as strong as the AFC, not close but getting closer. But if you actually consider the facts such as the records of this years NFC teams that make the playoffs compared to last years and the NFC's improved record vs the AFC, the NFC is anything but down this year.

I'm on the total oppsite side I'm quite happy.

7-3 to 8-6 and likely out of the playoffs.

Geez, I guess last years 6-10 record must've had you bouncing off the ceiling.

this yr was a great success, the skins swept. Hail!!!!
That tells you the difference in franchises. You guys get happy over sweeps, our franchise gets happy over super bowls.

It's not like we lost to the Texans, Packers, and Jets, we had the toughest part of our schedule hit us and we didn't do well. As someone posted earlier. we are an above average team with injuries to critical positions. That'll hurt no matter what team you are.

Consider this. The NFC is down this year and the Eagles in particular are in a shambles and yet, we're in 3rd place in our division. We had a 'great draft' and free agency, yet are underachieving and Bill doesn't know why. With Farve being at the end of his career and missing vital pieces of his offense and McNabb,Culpepper and Bulger missing many games, the Cardinals, Rams, Giants and Eagles have higher yards per game passing than we do. What is your optimism based on, certainly not on Bledsoe and our OL.

For one thing, we are rid of Quincy Carter. Take your agenda elsewhere!

If you had told me at the beginning of the year that we would be 8-8 or 9-7 and fighting for a playoff spot I would have said that's exactly what I expected. If you told me that we had been 7-3 and leading our division and then ended up at 8-8 or 9-7 or even 10-6 and miss the playoffs I would have said (as I am now) that the season was a disaster. I would have much rather finished strong like the 1990 Cowboys at 7-9 than flopping around like the 7-9 1986 Cowboys or the 8-8 1999 Cowboys.

I'm pretty content. I like where we are headed and the classy guys we field. I really thought we had something earlier this year. It turns out we were just a little better prepared coming out of TC than our opponents. We peaked real early and are seeing a grueling 16 game schedule fatigue the young guys and we all know the injury deal.
The one thing that bothers me the most is the lack of pass rush.....still. I have a hard time with that. I just don't see any reason for it especially when we rotate guys in so often. I thought for sure we'd be kickin' some serious arse there this year.

BTW - This is a refreshing thread.

Problem is...if you are looking towards the future....then you would hope to see improvement as the season progresses.

We seem to be going the opposite direction.

But I do have hope that a full off season in the weight room will help our rookie RT, and our Rookie DE's and OLB's.

But we are in serious need of a starting Center and RG....(Rivera is a bust that is not getting any younger)....and a LT if Flo does not come back to full form.

Why because I can see a positive in this season? Do I like the loses we've had No but I like the direction we are headed and reguardless if we make the playoffs or not I think this year has been good. Posters who critize others for no better reason than you had are what's wrong with msg boards in general, and I think we'd be better off with out members like you.

EDIT and if you'd read the rest of the thread there are many who agree with me....

It looks to me like we've lost 3 out of 4 and after playing teams close have now been blownout by a 7-6 team, and also trailed 17-0 and 14-3 in the two previous games. And our run defense has continually gotten worse as the season goes on.
As a fan, I don't think that's the direction I want to see us going in. But, maybe that's just me.

Well, maybe you can apply for to be a mod. I'm sure we could use a few more.
