Defend your boys. Should the nation have to watch a Dallas team that has underperformed?

Flexing to change game times on a given day is one thing, but changing from Thursday to Sunday or Sunday to Thursday is another.

I don't see the NFL ever taking the game away from Dallas. The market is just too huge. But, on the other hand, there has been serious consideration concerning Detroit. It wouldn't shock me at all to see that one go flex in the future.

I didn't write the article, and I actually think it was good. You Dallas fans just can't handle the fact your franchise is in shambles.

I think flex is not the term we should be using. At least it not what I meant. I guess rotate is a better term to use.

If they were going to do that to Det it would have been done, the NFL instead choose a different rout by adding a game Thursday Night. I think if the time comes that Det does not play I think it will be the Lions making that call.

Of course, if you are talking about scheduling different teams every year then whether Dallas is underperforming isn't even a factor because the schedule would have been set before we knoew Dallas was going to underperform.

I don't like the idea of taking it away from Dallas (or rotating, other than the visiting team), but i wouldn't be surprised if that happens someday. It's been discussed before, and somewhere down the road it may get some traction.

I for one would like to see another team besides Detroit play. I know...tradition, tradition..yada, yada, yada. Seriously, Thanksgiving could use two good games to watch.
Cowboys get the boot...NEVER.

NFL is about money. My question is, if that's true, could some other team bring bigger ratings during a year when the Cowboys are effectivley already out of it by Thanksgiving.
The answer is no.

Have a nice day.

I think it is Johnny Depp when he was young in that 21 jump street show...as far as what was happening in that scene...no clue.

Cowboys have the biggest viewer draw of all teams. Turkey Day is a nationally televised game. Cowboys make the league the most money, why wouldn't they play them on Turkey Day?

Yeah if you take the Cowboys away on Thanksgiving you might as well take away my Turkey too.

Last year our Power went out right before Kickoff for some reason. Couldn't believe it.

No one wanted this game back in the day when they cowboys said yes to play them. If you wanna watch another team play then blame that team for not taking the game. everyone was offered this annual game the cowboys where the only team to say yes (the lions already had one)

We have nothing to defend, why should we give it up now just because it's turned into a success? we're one of the reasons for that success

Man I miss the game every year travelling or having dinner right in the middle of it.

Please take the damn thing.

Troll or not, the OP has a valid point.

Detroit has generally been putrid ever since Barry Sanders retired, and for the most part, the last 30 years. Yet arguably the 2nd most featured game of the entire season is their Thanksgiving game. At some point, $$$ will take precedence over loyalty and putting a team that is consistently non-competitive in such a high profile game. The NFL isn't a charity, and let's be honest....by the 2nd half of the Detroit game, most people are munching on leftovers or are getting their nap before the Cowboys game.

Eventually, that'll bite the Cowboys as well.

My guess is the next step we'll see will be two games in each time slot so that the NFL has a much better chance of having competitive games to show the majority of the country, vs. seeing somebody roll Detroit.
