I'm not oppossed to taking a QB with our 1st round pick

I don't think anyone will argue against the fact that we're going to have a very high draft pick. Hear me out on this though. I don't know that there's a great tackle, safety or an impact pass rusher in this draft class. It seems to be conventional wisdom that there are QBs, cornerbacks and maybe some defensive linemen. I wouldn't be opposed to taking a cornerback, but if we're picking this high, I think we should go in on a QB. I'm in no way indicting Romo. As bad as this team looks without him, it's pretty clear that he's our MVP, but I still don't know if he's THE guy. He just doesn't have "it" in my opinion. Right or wrong, I don't think anyone would argue against him simply being a guy that bad things stick to like he's magnetic. In any case, the guy is 30 years old. We should think about a contingency plan. This is as good of an opportunity as we're ever going to have to secure the franchise.

It depends on who the QB prospect is, imo. If it's a John Elway or a Troy Aikman prospect, (one that is a consensus once every 15-20 year prospect) you would be nuts to pass him over, but if it's just your average top rated QB it would make no sense to take a QB. I don't know what the scouts think of Luck at Stanford. I know he's the #1 QB prospect but I don't know if he's Elway/Aikman special.

Romo may not be the best qb in the NFL but he is very, very good and about 25 other teams in the league would take him right now in a heartbeat.

The star quality that QBs who win big have. You know the ones that don't constantly come up just short and say "oh shucks, we'll get em' next year". It's a cliche and it's hard to define as a quality, but the blinders are on if you think Romo is a leader of men, as good a player as he may be.

LT is a pipe dream with Jerry Jones and NT is one of the least of our worries defensively.

Well we probably will be drafting top 10. This team needs to get tough in the trenches. We need linemen, period.

If our pick is a top 5 pick (and I may be), we need to bring in the best lineman available with the pick.

Pretty much agree, though I would qualify that by saying it could change some based on:

1) Which young guys give strong indicators they can play, and be at least adequate alogn with showing upside for the future.

and

2) What we do via free agency.

I really thought Spencer was going to be pretty good, but he's been pretty average this year. Dont know how much of it is him or the scheme, but if we stick with the 3-4 and a dynamic OLB falls in your lap, maybe you consider that too.

I think he'll end up the #1 pick if he comes out, but I dont think anyone will put him into the Aikman/Elway level.

What we need on this team is a real runinng back. Barber isnt that guy, jones is definitely not that guy, and choice isnt either. We need an absolute stud at RB. God I wish we drafted chris johnson that year.... what a wasted pick on Felix Jones, why was Jerry Jones so obsessed with Darren McFadden's backup? 1st round pick on a backup RB in college, what a reach....
