I'm off the 'trade for Chad' bandwagon

Chad is a stud receiver. But my god. If I had Carson Palmer throwing to me, I'd just shut up - What exactly does he want? To end up catching balls from Jason Campbell or Jeff Garcia or a slow learning Jemarcus Russell?

Chad. You aren't going to go to a good team. Wherever you go, the team is going to suck. You are already on a team that sucks. At least you have a good QB. Stop crying.

Chad Johnson...

If you think about what he's saying, he actually is making a lot of sense. You can call him a nutjob, headcase, distraction, or whatever you want to but the last thing he said clarifies his whole situation.

There's no commitment in Cincinnati. You unload some of your top tier talent [Chris Henry & Odell Thurman] and you're going to inhibit your chances of winning. Sure, they had issues and I'm not condoning their actions; but, if you're going to look at it from a business point of view and they can help you, why not let them? We took a flier on who might be considered the worst player to have off-the-field problems and look at him now. He's made tremendous strides since he's came to Dallas.

Chad is one of those players that isn't going to let what the media thinks... or even what the front office thinks of him stand in the way of getting what he wants. I quote,

"I gotta win. That's it. That's all it's about. Regardless of what the people think. Regardless of my style of play. Regardless of whether I celebrate or talk too much. Whether you like, whether you love me. It always comes down to one thing; about the way I play. I'm here to win. Period."

If publicly bashing his team and then seemingly contradicting himself by showing up to a mandatory mini-camp makes him a problem, then everybody else who does it is just as bad as he is. Greg Ellis being one in particular. But you think the world of him.

What makes Greg and Chad so different? Greg bends to the media while Chad doesn't.

Chad the Player is complaining. Chad the Person is not.

Because neither of those guys can help. Thurman will probably never play another down in his life and Chris Henry won't be doing much of anything for a year, at least.

At first I was worried about trading for Chad Johnson.

Then I was ok with it because it would make the offense unstoppable.

Now I am off the bandwagon for good.

The man is a head case.

It's like having that really hot GF who you just put up with because she's a hottie. But you are constantly thinking to yourself. "Is it really worth it?".

At this point I just think he's so scatter brained with his emotions from being a Bengal for so long he's too damaged now.

Give me Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin. But I will pass on Chad.
glad to see you've come around.
The best things come to those who wait.
Roy Williams in 09.

I'm not on the bandwagon. I don't care where he ends up. But, if you're going to attack a PERSON on the basis that he flip-flops his stance in an exercise that is strictly business, then I'll defend him.

If he knows that Cincinnati is going to pin him against the wall and make him work every minute of his contract, why not gripe and moan? The team obviously isn't getting marquee guys to help Carson get back to the playoffs. That offense is prolific but that defense needs help.

If the front office isn't going to go out and get guys that help that team win, that is about as a lack of commitment as it gets. The great thing about teams who have Super Bowls under their belts is that they go get guys that make an impact. The contenders don't give a crap and damn the risks. They want to win and their committed to it.

Just like Chad is.

I agree that if you're going to let your life outside of football influence your life in it, then you're right. Thurman may be strapped in the chair just like Adam Jones was. Chris Henry has a better run at surviving but somebody's just gotta say, "Damn, that kid can play!"

Professional football may be a sport but the people who play do it for fun. Granted, they may make some questionable decisions but the majority of the people on this board think that Goodell has gone wacky with power.

For the 20 or so people who show restraint, there's always that one person who doesn't. Now, why aren't the people who are doing the exact same thing getting the same kind of treatment? Because the one who doesn't show restraint winds up getting caught. It doesn't absolve the other 20 people who did it.

The only person... I think... that deserved to get banned was Onterrio Smith. Remember him?

Other than that, Henry and Thurman are victims of collusion.

I can't stand Greg Ellis because he does that crap. I hope you aren't syaing that I think the world of him?

As for Chad the player and Chad the person, they are one in the same bro.

The problem he is having is he keeps changing up his story from week to week. So is that what another team is supposed to expect from him? That one week he loves it in Dallas and if the team loses a game he hates it in Dallas? That isn't good for him to be that back and forth and it's certainly not good for a football team because then his fellow teammates think they are going into battle on Sunday with 'Cybil'.

As for T.O. in what he's done. That was a completely different scenario. The team, the Eagles, go rid of him. He wasn't coming out in the media every other week saying he wanted to stay there and then saying he wanted out of there. They finally suspended him so he was a goner.

I'd rather have Anquan(sp?) Boldin anyways. I think he's a great receiver and could be a number 1 on many other teams. Bring him into the family Jerry!
:starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin

I would not want him on this team... He's too unpredictable because one minute he's happy then the next he's crying, be a grown man and play football!

I have never really been on his bandwagon, because I haven't seen where Jerry has shown any interest in him. I've seen where he has shown interest in us though.

I don't blame him.

If we were to acquire him I wouldn't hate it, but I would rather go after younger WRs to be opposite Owens.

I still think Roy Williams is coming. Call me stubborn. I won't deny it.

i would be for Chad the player not Chad the person. This guy has some serious issues that he needs to take care of.:)

That's my thoughts as well... in a perfect world, T.O. and Chad are sharing the ball and sharing the spotlight... but it's just not realistic.

Chad Johnson needs to end up where HE alone is in the limelight and the star, then he'll be happy.

The difference between him and T.O. is that the whole league was scared to touch T.O. when the Eagles dropped him, so T.O. had good reason to be a team player when he came to us.... he was really on his last leg.

Johnson though is so young (and so far he's only trashed his one team) that a lot more teams would be willing to take a chance on him, so he's got less incentive to shape up and shut up.

Whatever helps us win the Superbowl and not destroy the team, I'm down...

Even if I gotta see Chad Johnson's ugly gold grills everyday...

I openly admit that I don't like TD celebrations much. Now and then some of them are genuinely funny. Owens filming behind the goalpost for example.

He cracks me up though. I can't help it.

I don't mind them as long as it does not cost 15 yard because of it.

Our WR corp doesn't step up this year and Jerry may have no choice but to go after him next off season.
