They think that Schoonmaker will be their top tight end. A lot of people said that they reached on Tyler Smith last year. Those people were 100% wrong.
Sorry Rambo, but making this comparison to diminish others who disagree may be the poster boy for a strawman argument. This encompasses the, "But what about," argument in politics.

You seem to like the guy. I preferred an offensive guard at the spot this kid was drafted. I believe offensive line was more important and the team, once again, is relying on Tyron and his aging body, along with Steele coming off an injury which normally takes over a year to heal back to top playing ability. If the o-line is porous, what a rookie tight end adds to the mix is questionable, in my view.

But having said that, your position may be correct. Yet, I cannot help but look at Schoon's college career and wonder if, beyond blocking, what does he truly bring? Personally I do not see one elite player in the TE position for this team. I have been wrong before. I actually wanted Bobby Carpenter as a draft pick. So what I think comes with the price tag of being an imbecile at times in regard to players.

But weighing the needs of this team when the second round was in play, I believe the franchise could have gone in quite a few directions other than a kid who is not known for his ability in the passing game other than getting into the way of a pass rusher.

But you do you, amigo.

It could turn out that the guard from Florida was the actual reach and Schoonmaker was the right pick
We will see

Yep, its why you probably dont want to take a TE that high.

Should have taken OLine.
So you are going to completely ignore the fact you said he needed 600-800 yards receiving to be a good pick? A number so high it hasn't been done in at least the last 7 years. That's all the further back I went but I'm sure I could have kept going. You have already set a unrealistic number for him to be considered a good pick. That isn't Schoon's fault, that is all you.

The bottom line is the Cowboys wanted to improve their blocking. The best player to do that when they were on the clock was Schoon.

Meh, at this rate he is more likely to be our next David LaFleur.

The thing is, usually, the people who are the most insistent . . . are the same people who were wrong about the last topic they insisted they were right on.. It can only be taken seriously if you can also freely admit you may be or have been wrong, too.

Problem is you cherry picked what I said and reacted to what you wanted to hear and now what I said or meant.

Best player to improve their blocking was a TE? Not a guard or tackle?

You sure about that buddy? You going to blow a 2nd round pick on a blocking TE? He better be able to do everything.

You might need to clarify that comment for me. Type slower so I get it. How is the insistence level indicative of being wrong before but not admitting it?

I'm not pushing back on your theory, just want to learn something here.

I predict that he’ll be another 2nd round pick wasted…Jerry loves wasting premium picks on dime a dozen players or risky players…

He can do everything. Check out his highlights. He is obviously a do everything tight end that Mike wants in his offense.
