I'm so tired of seeing this one-sided officiating

jerry loves to talk but he never complains about the officiating.

decades ago I came to the conclusion that certain refs willfully influence the point spread and/or outcomes of games for their own reasons, whatever they may be. That is one of the main reasons I quit being emotional about the game but learned to enjoy it for its own sake, win or lose.

It is not always the players who determine the outcome of games, often it is individual officials. It is not the voters who determine the outcome of an election, it is those who count the votes.

I love the game anyway.

I have a good idea on how to minimize the penalty discrepancy.

Don't get called for offsides on a KR.

Don't run into the punter.

Don't shove Brady obviously after the fact.

Make your substitutions in time.

The refs suck. Everyone knows that. There's calls in every game that go good and bad.

But you can't just give them blatantly free opportunities to throw the flag.

Pretty much sums it up. One thing I know for sure as long as there has been refs in sports there have been fans who scapegoat them after a loss.

Like anyone else I get mad after a bad call. I also ackowledge on many occations where I felt a penalty should have been called or not called only to find out I was wrong when looking at the replay.

Refs will miss calls, just as player and coaches will make mistakes if you can't accept that fact or deal with it then chances are you need to find something else to do with your time than watching sports. :laugh2:

As for the game Sunday, I don't have a clear enough memory of the possible grounding call to comment on that one, but the roughing penalty is so easily and clearly within the bounds of what todays NFL classifies as roughing that it was a no brainer for the refs. This is not the same NFL as in the past where it took a particularly hard or violent hit to qualify as roughing. Any contact that is well after the throw and enough to cause the QB to fall down is enough.

I don't have a problem with the officials calling the penalty on Spencer, because it does fit the touchy-feely rules. My problem is seeing the same or worse done to Romo without a call.

I guess you have to earn that kind of protection from the officials by complaining constantly.

But, it's Friday, I am fired up to watch the Cowboys play Sunday because I didn't see the game last week.

Stop with this nonsense. There is no "conspiracy". Refs call what they call.

I watch the Pats almost every week. They get away with quite a bit IMO. A) because they are generally a very disciplined team + I think that the refs give them the benefit of the doubt more often than not. B) Belichick is and incredibly intelligent, self controlled + disciplined coach - I assume that he would be about the last coach a ref would want to challenge on a consistent basis. C) The protect Brady + Manning rule.

The big diffence on the call agains Brady is that it was in the open field with nobody else around, nothing else for the official to look at, no other bodies flying around for the official to have to watch. Like I said in another post, Spencer might as well have been holding a flashing neon sign when he did it because it was so out in the open there was no way anyone could miss it.

The other problem was that the hit really wasn't even a result of momentum. The ball was clearly away, Spencer had pulled up so much so that there was no concern about there being contact unless Spencer did what he did by giving Brady a shove.

The whole thing was just so out in the open and so unnecessary and so easily avoidable the refs had to make the call.

This is my point I don't care about the holds, the ruffing the passer, and etc that's called on us........its the call that we don't get going are way that I hate! I see so many penalties against opposing teams that are never called

I recall Dallas being in their no-huddle offense during one drive and a Patriot being injured after one play that looked really iffy. The offense had them on their heels at that moment. Belichek uses no-huddle alot, so he definetly knows how to weasle around the rules.

If this team want to be called for less penalties they should stop committing them. Only game this season i thought it was bad was the skins game the rest have been fairly balanced

That's a fair point. We see the hits on our quarterback because most of us are watching our quarterback. The officials have a lot to take in, and often take it in at different angles than we have.

I do think that's where complaining has an effect, and Brady and some other quarterbacks are a lot better at that than Romo. Romo just wants to get in there and do his job as a quarterback, move on to the next play, while some others have figured out one way to do their job is by constantly looking for calls to get the officials to pay attention to you.

I don't like it, but it's become part of the sport since safety has become a focal point.
