So is Randle El is a FA.
He is easily one of my favorite non-Cowboys.
We need another WR.
And a good PR.
And this year's draft class is WEAK in WRs.
And BP loves him. To quote BP, he said Randle El is, "electrifying".
And he is a good guy. Alot like Hines Ward. Played QB in college... always smiling... good guy.
He's very versatile and very talented. And young.

Your thoughts?
Think he'll leave PIT?
Would they let him get away?

I'd love to have him in Dallas. Like I said, one of my favorite players.

Yup.
He's on the watch list to be sure.

Same as Chris Hope.

Randel El would eb quite a good fit as Glenn's backup and future replacement as well as a gadget guy and special teamer who could get the 25 to 30 plays per game BP loves form a guy.

My hunch is that he was already on Bill's list.

I was watching the Cowboys Huddle last night. Keyshawn was on, and he talked a little bit about how he thought another receiver with an extra gear could really help the team. He acted like the best way to get that player was through free agency instead of the draft.

I with you, but no way Pitt lets him walk. He and Ward make them dangerous.

Pitt has been notoriously cheap.

Thats the only reason I think he have a legit shot at A Randle El.

Hmm. That's interesting. Thanks for sharing that.

With Key's friendship to T.O., I would think he might be talking about a WR more like T.O., instead of a Randle El type WR, who is a versatile WR, but not considered a speed burner.

Very true, and add to the fact Parker and Rothlisberger will be itching for extensions could make Randle El a goner.

Also, Pitt annually is pushed against the cap. They rarely add big time FA's and basically upgrade their through the draft. So if they have a bad draft they will stink with the age they have on the OLine and DLine.

BP loves players like Randle El.
Multi-versatile,, and a threat in the kicking game should put him on Bills radar this offseason.
Id love to have him here.

i'm all aboard for him coming to Dallas for the reason you stated. That would be great next year having Randle El on one side and Glenn on the other with Key in the slot. You couldn't double either receiver

The problem is how effective would he be if he became the #1 go to guy? Right now he plays with Hines Ward and is very good in that system.

I assume we are looking for receivers that are #1 receivers and if that assumption is true, you would look at El as a #1, which is a role he has never played.

Consider that Randle El was a QB in college who moved on to the next level and became a very valuable WR/ST'er.
Maybe the jump from complimentary WR to primary WR wouldn't be as difficult of a move as the college QB to NFL jack-of-all trades moves was.
Despite all these, I think there will be better choices out there for a No.1 WR.
Javon Walker, anyone?

Walker is not a Free Agent in 2006, unless you are talking about doing a trade?

Randle-El has put up number more typical of a #3 WR during his time with Pittsburgh:

2002 16 0 47 489 10.4 36 2 7 0 22
2003 16 1 37 364 9.8 32 1 4 0 21
2004 16 7 43 601 14.0 39 3 10 0 29
2005 16 15 35 558 15.9 63 1 10 3 23
Total 64 23 162 2012 12.4 63 7 31 3 95

Now part of that may be due to the system but Burress and Ward have put up much bigger numbers. You could excuse some of his early lack of production due to learning a new position in the NFL but at this point he looks to be no better than a good #3 or a below average #2 WR. This means he is a role player and a guy who is only brought in for a reasonable contract.

Personally, I think Crayton has more long-range potential at WR than Randle-el does. Any when you bring up the idea that he will be the deep threat, he didn't have a single reception over 40 yards in his first 3 years in the league and has a career average of 12.4 ypc.

What the Cowboys really need is a true #1 WR. Keyshawn isn't scaring anyone anymore and Glenn disappears when defenses double up on him. I would not be shocked if Key is dumped/restructured and we hunt for a #1 WR - it would go against BP's history to do so, though.

He is worth no more than $2M/yr or so.

Randle El is one of those guys I feel could really flourish in the right environment. He's a dynamic talent. Runs clean routes, catches well, and is multitalented. He is definitely underrated and could do big things in the right offense.

Especially the way rules are geared now, smaller receivers like him can do very well.
