I'm starting to think the Steelers should be America's Team, they have a lot of fans!

How about letting the Stealers develop their own persona, instead of stealing ours? I get tired of every Superbowl winner, or whatever, calling themselves America's Team. Contrary to some of you, I like the title America's Team and think it fits perfectly. JMO

BTW, who could have guessed that I liked the title of America's Team? lol

The Steelers, imo, have the most, and most dedicated fans in the NFL. Above the Cowboys even. Call them bandwagoneers if you want but that doesn't make it true. Whether you like it or not they have a better and more dedicated fanbase than the Cowboys, period.

The Dallas Cowboys have the worst homecrowd in the NFL, next to maybe Arizona or one of those bottom feeders

our homecrowd can't generate more noise than Steelers fans IN TEXAS STADIUM for f's sake

Some of you guys are forgettin' about all the Fans The Cowboys have not only throughout the U.S but, throught out many more countries. as mentioned in a reply above, Mexico for instance theres no more popular team football wise than the Dallas Cowboys. I would love to have the boys' play @ Mexico City in their over 110.000 Stadium, that thing would get packed and easily 70% of that would be Dallas fans.

Props for the steelers, they do have a big fan-base without a Doubt. But take in consideration , pitts is very close to Detroit. Its like having Dallas play de SB in Arizona vs. the Bengals. Dallas is gonna have more fans, for obvious reasons.

I still think, theres no team with more Fans than the Dallas Cowboys. there is more loyal tho.

JMO.

That's actually a valid point- many Pittsburghers began fleeing that cesspool of a town in the early 80s when they lost their jobs and their Stealers fell on hard times- I guess being unemployed AND having your team suck would be a lot to ask of an uneducated, wife beating alcoholic. :D However, in the 70s it was OK because they were winning.

ESPN reported this morning that this year's Super Bowl was the 2nd most watched program in TV history and I'm just wondering if any of you have ever seen a bigger "home game" at the Super Bowl than we had last weekend with the Steelers faithful. I was impressed. They represented well and were loud. Even the Cowboys who are "America's Team" didn't get that kind of backing in their last Super Bowls.

It also brings me back to the game Pittsburgh played at Dallas and the huge contingent of Steelers fans at that game. It pissed me off how many Steelers fans were at that game and how loud they were.

What's most impressive about is it that Pittsburgh is on the East Coast (associate football more with the warmer grassier states), it's a relatively small city and both those games were halfway across the country. Plus, the Steelers haven't won anything since the 70's so it doesn't seem like a bandwagon team. I would put the Steelers as one of the top followed teams up there with the Cowboys, Raiders, Bears, Packers, Commanders, Giants, and other teams with rich hisory but I didn't know they had so many fans.
This is why the people that said the NFL wanted Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl were so off base. Pittsburg was the team they wanted as far a ratings go and the ratings prove that.

This SB was second to the Dallas Cowboy and the Steelers from SBXXX.

I think it was more about Jerome Bettis and being in Detroit and the fact that Detroit is alot closer to Pitt than Seattle.

The Steeler Fans owned Texas Stadium last year.

We played the Steelers in 2004, which is 2 years ago, And it still doesn't
mean they are America's Team..face it no matter how many of the other
fans come to Texas Stadium for a game..Dallas will all ways be America's
Team

we are the most loved and the most hated in all of sports, basicly we are
the Yankees of the NFL, everyone loves to hate Dallas, Even Browns fans
have more hate for Dallas then they do the Steelers their natural rivals

Pittsburgh could never match the love/hate people show us so we will all
ways be america's team

Another way you can look at it is that the Cowboys are by far the more hated team nation wide. All the really good teams inspire both love and hatred, just look at the Yankees, Lakers, Duke etc.

Most people are pretty much indifferent about the Steelers so they'll never be as big of a draw us the Cowboys.

The Steeler's old fan base just simply came out of the woodwork to see their working class Rolling Stones at halftime. Had it been Pearl Jam or Nirvana (Past tense), Seatlle fans would have overflooded the state of Michigan for that. A super bowl + a Stones show, the albeit high cost of a Super Bowl ticket, that's a steal for working class america that follows both football and the ungodly expensive to see Rolling Stones.

We're talking two entirely different demographs here, for a game that really is mostly about the sideshows (aka halftime show, pregame shows, etc, etc) anyway, and you can't tell me the entertainment didn't play a part in it. This years Super Bowl was obviously catered towards the older generations based on the acts they brought in to perform. And speaking on part of that same generation that was around when Seatlle conquered the entertainment world, this years super bowl has to be the least appealing one I have ever laid eyes on, entertainment wise. And I fully believe most tickets held by super bowl attendees are not always that of the "die hard" fan, but instead held by the casual fan with money that gets lucky enough to land one.

And as far as ratings go, same thing, the Stones drove up those number expedetially. Cause I think most of us here can agree that this super bowl, game-wise, lacked considerably! Just think how many of us here didn't even watch it or just half-watched it while doing other things. I'd be willing to bet the majority of those ratings numbers came at halftime.

And that's my take on it all. Steelers are NOT America's Team----WE ARE!
