Detroit is giving Green Bay the business this week so far. It makes our win against them look a bit better.

Out team is a bit slow to make adjustments in game planning, although to be fair it may be better than making knee jerk adjustments.

I quarter of the season is gone, we haven't played our best ball and yet we are at .500 tiedfor the division lead. We could start putting this thing g together and win this division. It's still way early.

If we end up winning the division it will undoubtably be because we are playing better ball. It's way too early to be writing off this season.

I still think this could be our year.
Like your style and attitude. Let’s see what happens. Looks like the egirls are losing. We may have made a smart move as bailey missed 2 today one was from 28 yards. The giants lost. We win today and we are looking better. We win convincingly and we may be putting together a team. Still up in the air in the egirls game. The vikings are trying to lose. Lol

Lol. They are really trying to lose. Wow.

...to get interested in this year's version of the Cowboys. The offense is boring beyond belief. I wrote several times during the offseason that the passing game was suspect, but I held back judgment, hoping against hope that I would be proven wrong. I gave this staff the benefit of the doubt that they had a plan that would work.

But now, I find the prospect of watching the Cowboys incredibly tedious. There are a couple of interesting stories - Byron Jones emerging as a shutdown corner, the linebacking corps getting younger and better. But Sean Lee being injured is an old story by now. And the lack of talent at safety since the NFL changed the rules to castrate Roy Williams after 5 straight Pro Bowl seasons is also an old story. Yes, Elliott is the best RB in the NFL, but without a corresponding NFL caliber QB and receiver group, I feel like I'm back in the early 2000's.

I find myself much more interested in the emerging teams in Chicago and Cleveland than watching the team I've followed my entire life. I'm intrigued by the emergence of Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. But the NFL as a whole is a lot more difficult to enjoy, with flags flying, quarterbacks unreasonably protected, and the defenses hamstrung by unreasonable rules to "protect" the players.

I get more joy from watching the highlights after the fact than actually watching the games live. The politicization of the league makes the bile rise in my throat. What was the NFL and what was the Cowboys no longer remains. Only a soon to be dead carcass remains. It's time to find another outlet for my energy and time. What was once a joy now feels more like an obligation. And I'm tired of it.

I was going to start publishing my weekly Statistical Power Rankings again this past week (I typically start posting after the 4th week of the season, when there is enough data to actually get something reasonably accurate). But I just cannot muster up the motivation to take the time to enter the data into my program.

For those who remain, I hope you find joy in watching the Cowboys, and the NFL. Beyond a few moments here and there, the NFL has lost me. Sad.

(And yes, I know you don't care. But I needed to write this epilogue for myself. It's my final lamentation.)
Don't let the door hit you in the *** on your way out.

Not interested in watching them, but interested in writing about them?

What took you so long Jumbo? I'll watch but I'm not emotional at all, I just analyze the game.

Soon as Jerry brought his old dogs back (excluding Marinelli) I knew the next season was trash, and was uninspired at that moment.

Yea, this is a ish show. Funny tho observing denial, excuses and lame justifications from ownership down to some fans.

NFL is slowly dying for those who can see.

I'm like you in that I'm much more analytical than emotional about Cowboy games now. Theres just no juice since Romo Witten and Dez, but I have to disagree about the NFL in general.

I thought the league was in trouble last year but now I love watching the young QB's and interesting offenses in LA and Chicago. In fact, Mahomes is the most fun I've had watching the NFL in a long time.

There's going to be an adjustment to the new rules and yes, for older fans it's hard, I get it, but the NFL is far from dead and is still much see TV according to the ratings which are way up this year.

This team is what it is on offense now, a staff that implements an offense every other week when they're facing some heat just to stop doing everything that worked the next week.

Definition of 8-8.

They had a great chance to continue expanding on what they did in the Lions game, instead they basically killed all of it to revert back to the offense that got shutdown every week.

I don't get it. I can only attribute it to laziness by the staff, or just a lack of balls. It's hard to tell.

Why should Garrett feel any pressure. Even 8-8 makes the owner/GM/jock sorter thrilled. Plus he’s counting his 5 bil. That's his SB.

Step back from the ledge jumbo...

Bottom line is we have a very young team and are going through a changing of the guard....best hope for this year was always just to have a shot at the playoffs

Yeah it is only 8 plus years into the process. What’s the rush?

Sad, but probably true.

Also, Jerry in his alzheimer years just doesn't understand all these new-fangled ideas on offense.

Well, I hate to see you leave the game. Your right, this team is tough to watch. I find myself watching a Cowboys game more of a chore than watching to relax and enjoy my favorite team since I was a kid. Its hard to watch after 23+ years of horrible football matched by horrible coaching and bad decisions....but I'm going to keep chugging along...thats my team...and I will watch till the end of my days. At least I can say I've watched all 5 Superbowl wins and losses....I feel bad for fans who have not seen the Cowboys be good let along contend for a Super Bowl...I've been very lucky....GO COWBOYS!!!!
