Coach Rod Marinelli is fired. I respect his credentials and his knowledge but I feel that maybe he's better as just a position coach. The cover two schem we run is outdated and too vanilla. I understand that he hasn't had a surplus of talent on the defense but it will be nice to have a defensive heavy draft and get some fresh eyes on this group.

Everyone is criticizing the pass rush yesterday but I think a lot of the lack of a rush was by design and we were more worried about not letting Rodgers leave the pocket.

From now on I don't ever want to see our defense play scared like that. Play tight coverage and go after that guy and let the chips fall where they may.

Of course to be fair...part of it is his fault for turning down some players in the draft because they did not fit his mold of what he wants in a DT and his belief that he can find a good to great 1 tech anywhere.

Marinelli has done more with less than the clapper could ever dream of doing. You give Marinelli two rookies who are in the running for MVP, the best DL in football and a future HOFer and see what he does. Garrett's not in Marinelli's league.

I have to agree with this. We blitzed Rodgers and he was frustrated before the half, so our answer was to rush 3 on the final play. It's just dumb. If you blitz heavy, he has two plays he can throw. Just throw it up, throw a screen or sack.

I think people forget what this defense looked like before Rod took over. We are upset that we gave up 30+ to Aaron Rogers, but in 2013 we were giving up 50+ to QBs of that caliber.....and 40+ to Josh McCown.

The man can only use what he has at his disposal. Get him a legit DE....not a project that another team cut loose.....not a mid round pick....a true talent. Firing Rod is like calling the fire department, then complaining about the water damage.

I thought he was going to blitz more this game off the edge.... I don't like it when the defense plays off, soft zone to keep the receiver in front of you, he doesn't attack the offensive line enough but Marinelli doesn't have much talent other than Lee right now on defense..
