Me thinks the refs will be keeping a very close eye on all plays in an effort to save face from the media scrutiny that has become as a result of last week.

What do you all think? Are we in store for a few ticky-tacky calls?

I'm sure Roger has put the bug in some zebra ears.

I believe you have something here. If Rogers is smart he will throw long passes that can not be caught but results in a pass interference call. He uses this to match down the field knowing that the refs are in his back pocket. He scores on all series with a score of 41 points. The Cowboys can not catch a break on offense because the refs call offensive pass interference on all pass plays. Cowboys score 27 points and go home with frostbite.

The Cowboys offense can use the same strategy. The game may be scrutinized more by the refs but I think they will still call it the same for both teams. If you can think that plan up, do you not think the Cowboys staff hasn't already considered it as well?

I could care less about the refs as long as they calls things the same for both teams...I don't buy into the bias towards Rodgers by the refs (sure, ESPN loves him)....if the game is called the same, we stand a pretty good chance of coming out with a win

As much as we like to proclaim this team is like the team of the 90s it is not, I worry about this team every week. So far I have been pleasantly surprised. We can do this, but. It has the making of another heart attack game.

Another heart attack game, you are correct I believe. Anyone watching Lawrence recover the fumble then fumble it went though an emotional carnage of Yessssss - Nooooooo. Then we had a thread about what fans had to say about this emotional exchange of feelings. I don't believe the fan base can stand many of those!!:eek::rolleyes::omg::angry::banghead::bow:

You should be...you should be...but what, in the end can you actually do about it? *wink

Dallas will win if:

D-line can ante up, including RoMac in the lineup at LB.
Team rushing 150 yards plus.
Turnover battle is won.
Cowboys can beat man coverage consistently.
Oline keeps Romo clean.

Do those five things with consistency and the Cowboys will move to 9-0 on the road.

Dallas will lose if:

Slow start like Detroit game.
Can't at least move a less mobile Rodgers off his spot.
Lose the turnover battle.
Can't run the Packers out of nickel.
Oline breaks down.
Can't beat man coverage.

The first 30 minutes will be the most important, since Marinelli's d-line usually gets stronger toward the end due to an excellent rotation, where players are kept fresh. The Dallas defense has usually played better over the final 30 minutes in most games where they have come from behind. If Dallas can enter half-time, tied, ahead or just 3 points down, then they will have better chances. I think Bryant had a good day in last year's game (11 for 153yds). Burnett and Shields had a long day after a 26-3 start by Dallas. The defense just could not hold up. The key matchup might be Nelson vs. Scandrick...hopefully he can do better than last year. I do think that if Dallas opens up again with a 26-3 lead, then Green Bay probably can't win. Moreover, if Dallas can get 150 from both Murray and Bryant, then it could turn into a real barn-burner like the Denver "affair" last year.

One of the biggest plays from last year's contest was the 2nd and 6 with 2:38 to go in the 4th, where Romo checks out of the run because he sees Green Bay crowding the box, with no safety deeper than 7 yards from the LOS. I don't know if it was Murray not picking up Matthews but ... Tyron and the line blocks right, with Matthews untouched and in Romo's face immediately...pirouette to shed Matthews, strike to Austin but picked by Sam Shields...if not, Austin is behind both safeties and the game is over...even so, run on 2nd 6 with 2:38 was probably a better move, especially how Murray had been running up to that point (18-134 @ 7.44 YPC). Probably a really bad move on Romo's part to check out of the run without accounting for Matthews, unless Murray just missed it.

The biggest thing was blowing a 26-3 first half advantage...with plenty of chances to salt away the game. Selvie and Scandrick got one sack each, but the defensive secondary simply collapsed in the final thirty minutes. Dallas must hope that the d-line can get pressure, even if not sacks, because the GB line is better than last year. Spencer and Lawrence are two key players that could make a difference in the second half.

I don't think the refs will try to do anything but their jobs. I don't see them trying to make up for anything, heck not even the same crew.

You honestly think they will be under fire? Missed calls happen every single game. In fact, the NFL told Dallas there were 7 calls that went against them on Sunday but did that get any press? No. Just that one picked up flag and the missed holding. If Dallas gets screwed this game, no one will care. And it will actually be celebrated.

Maybe under fire is the wrong choice or words. They (the crew) will CERTAINLY be under a microscope IMO. You're preaching to the choir with everything else you have said.

What worries me about this game isn't the refs it's Aaron Rodgers if we don't put some pressure on him and he's on his game it could be a long day.

Agreed. I just know if we were in Detroit's shoes, no one would care about those calls. In fact, the public would be laughing. Media would gloss over it as well. That's how it goes. We are one of the most hated teams in the world. Yet we haven't won anything in 18 years. Used to it by now. We could go 0-16 and people would still talk about us.

I have friends who are Ravens and Pats fans, yet they have talked about Dallas more this postseason than their own teams. Never got that.

Again, preaching to the choir. I'm in Texans land and they are completely obsessed with the Cowboys. lol. The vitriol is unbelievable. I don't think I hate a team as much as they hate us.

I question your sincerity here while liking your killer instinct.

You know, I can understand how you'd feel that way. I believe in this team. Some bad calls (contrary to media hype) against Dallas helped Detroit get a lead in this game. Respect to their front 4. They did an excellent job at slowing down Murray and getting pressure. GB does not have as talented a front 4, are weaker against the run, and we should have Doug Free (a superior run defender) back at RT. Dallas has done well about bouncing back from poor offensive outings, with a chip on their shoulder to prove something. That bounce back started in the second half. (e.g.33-10L against Phili to avg 41.3 ppg the next 3 gms) I love when we're the underdog. I think we play best when the whole world thinks we'll lose. Tony, Dez, Witten, Murray and that entire defense are going to be out there with some attitude and something to prove. I'm looking forward to this game.

I should have put a smilie after that because it was in jest. I'm sry if that caused a problem. I hope the attitude of the defense is up to the task. I think they are better than many think....obviously.

I agreed with most of what you said. Something gotta give though. We didn't lose a road game. They didn't lose a home game. Hard to win in Lambeau. We will likely need to change up our defensive pass schemes to stay in this game unless we have a high Sc%, high RZ scoring, TDs not FGs, and no turnovers. We can't have 7-8 minute drives and give up a TD in 2 minutes. We'll need to get a few stops and maybe a couple of turnovers. Can't let them get behind them and can't give up the middle of the field as we are want to do.

Only thing I'm concerned about is not letting Rodgers get outside of the pocket, specifically his right side. Other than that, I'm cool.

I actually think that the refs are going to try very hard to make correct calls to counter the backlash from last weeks game, not try to receive more scrutiny by making obvious poor calls. The refs are going to be heavily watched in this game, I would think the last thing the NFL wants to do is create more of an uproar with fans by making the game way one sided with calls in favor of a team, especially after people questioning whether the league is conspiring to get certain teams an advantage. I just don't see why they'd out themselves like this, and if the Cowboys all of a sudden start to get penalized heavily this next game for iffy calls, it's going to look even more horrible than it already does, because it'll show that the league does have sway in how the refs call games. But after the year the NFL front office has had, I wouldn't be surprised by anything.

Not at all worried. This team has done a helluva job. I thought they'd win 3 games with this defense so if they lose I will still be proud of their season. And I doubt they would get blown out. With Rodgers wobbly things just got a lot more interesting for me. I actually think Boys can now win this.

I hear that. We have been great in the turnover margin but, GB rarely turns it over. We're going to have to play a gutsy game. I'm just wondering how much of GB's stats are based on it's opponents? They've had a much softer schedule than we've had.
