Making the playoffs without Smith would've been a struggle. I doubt they lose seven in a row or finish 4-12, though.

The '93 Cowboys were defending Super Bowl champions. The fact that they would have won more games is a freakin' no brainer. That isn't the point.

Do they have a winning season? Can they beat the 49ers, the Giants twice?

Do they beat playoff bound Green Bay and Minnesota? The whole league would be smelling blood.

Can the secondary survive with starring corners Larry Brown and rookie Brock Marion?

But we didn't have to worry about that, did we?

Instead, we witnessed one of the most, if not the most dominant teams in NFL history which brings me to my point:

IF Murray had resigned....

If Dez and Romo had not been injured...

If our MLB and CB hadn't been suspended and injured, respectivly......

We would all be pushing Jason Garrett as Coach of the Year.

The Cowboys would have UNDOUBTEDLY been the division champions, perhaps with a 1st round bye.

Rather than edure a long holdout, the Cowboys have decided to trade Emmirt Smith for future draft picks.

Jerry Jones explains the benefits of the trade while predicting the success of a running game propelled by an elite offensive line. He is confident that the committee of Derrick lassic, Tommy Agee, and Lincoln Coleman will be successful.

This would be the main reason they would not do good.
"Emmitt Smith is a luxury not a necessity"........similar to how they felt about Murray.

and @ the op , no one expected the cowboys to be real good after tony went out, but we did think they could win 2-3 of 10 games without tony.
I think Jimmy would have won a few games and not lost 9 of 10 in a row.

Then in 1990 why didn't the great Jimmy figure out how to get us in the playoffs....we are at 7-7, after being 3-7....need to beat Philly to get a WC spot. Aikman gets injured, Babe Laufenberg come in, and is horrible, we lose. We go to Atlanta, to play a horrible Falcons team, should win even with a back up QB, any back up QB...Laufenberg goes out and plays one of the worst games in NFL history...a game we should have won, as we had Irvin AND Smith playing....in BOTH games....

Apples and Oranges. Jimmy was in what his second year with a team he was building that year. OP is referencing Jimmy's second SB season. This year, Garrett on the other hand, is in his Fifth year as head coach and ninth year as head of the offense, yet could only figure out how to win one game after his QB went down in a league full of parity.

Not apples and oranges, it's applied across the board to all. But people want to cherry pick for their agendas.

You compared 1 game to 11, it is far beyond apples and oranges.

It was a general statement so a general comparison. And it was 2 games....:p

Actually 9, as they lost 9 that year to. 11 this year, if you want to use that logic.

1993 was Jimmy's 5th year. His combined record during his first 4 was 32-32.

Jason was surrounded by a better team? I assume you are talking about when he was a backup in 93. Without Emmitt and Irvin? Are you telling us that Jason could have won as the starter without those two guys?

Garrett started one game in '93 and was replaced after his 6th pass by newly acquired Bernie Kosar.

In the famous Thanksgiving start Green Bay was ahead 17-3 with a minute left in the 2nd half. Kevin Williams then returned a kick 35 yards which helped them get another field goal. He returned the 2nnd half kick 87 yards.

Emmitt ran the ball for 135 yards and caught 6 of Jason's 15 completions.

Jimmy would have found a way to win more than 1 game.

However that wouldn't have mattered. We'd still have lost the majority of those games without Emmitt, Troy, and Michael and the Giants were pretty damn good that year too, They finished 11-5 that year and only lost the division to us on the final weekend.

They'd have run away with the division by the time Aikman was able to return. So in that situation Dallas wouldn't have won the division and frankly I don't even know if they'd have made the playoffs.

But they wouldn't have finished 4-12 either with just 1 win without Aikman.
