Hire CJ Mosley cheap for DT. While he is an older guy, he can fill in nicely and was really good for the Lions last year. Then draft Bennett in the 2nd round. That would fill in the 1-tech quite well, and Crawford looks nice at 3-tech, and DLaw is on the way up. That could easily be a top 10 front 7 which will help our secondary a lot.

I don't agree with that at all. I feel like at this point, he's coming back on a very team friendly deal.

Brinkley and especially Gachkar will not affect Ro negotiations. One is a two down player and the other is a STer. Ro will be a Cowboy, he is still going to be available for a bargain due to the questions marks (off field & injuries) unless some team becomes desperate and offers crazy money, like 9ers or Raiders.

I would like him back, I just don't see it.

Brinkley and Gachkar were given bigger than backup deals. There are only so many snaps with Hitchens and Lee back combined with the Rivers signing from earlier. Maybe on a vets minimum but thats on Rolando.

Not sure what the guarantees on those contracts were, but Gachkar does not even play the same position as Ro. Neither does Rivers. IMO these are depth guys at OLB. If Brinkley is what prevents us from re-signing Ro, then Stephen has lost his mind.

They don't really make more than what Bernadeau makes and he's a backup. I think all of them will have a shot at starting but i don't think those sub $2m AAV deals exactly scream starter.

The vet minimum is around $775k. You don't think he's worth more than that?

Lee, Hitchens and Brinkley all can play the MIKE. They only have 3 LBs on the field around 50% of the snaps anyways. Just a lot guys to throw at those snaps. No one has officially said Lee was the WLB yet as far as I have heard.

bkight13 might not, but a GM will before Training Camp. Better believe it.

If Cowboys can put a monster 1 tech in front of the MIKE then I'm fine with Brinkley/Lee/Hitchens manning the middle. But Brent/Bishop/McClain do not count as monster 1 techs IMO. Otherwise need Ro. Cowboys still can play around with Carrs and/or Romo's contract to free up the necessary cap space.

The Cowboys have both Jeremy Mincey and DeMarcus Lawrence set to return as defensive ends next season. Hardy would likely move straight to the right side where he would face the opposing team’s left tackles. Lawrence would likely switch to the left side in that scenario with Mincey serving as a roving lineman who can play both sides, along with occasional defensive tackle duties in pass-rushing situations.

Yep. I imagined it exactly like this.

It's not what I think that matters. I'm just reading the signals the FO is sending. It appears to me they told McClain to get what you can and call us before you leave. They did they same thing with Murray and didn't up their number until late in the game. Dallas has signed 3 LBs in Free Agency and a couple more since last season.

If McClain gets a decent offer, I doubt they match and if they really wanted him they would have made a larger by now. He only made the minimum last year and it didn't end the best way for McClain. The 4 game drug fine means he is one missed test away from a 4 game suspension and there are still questions about his commitment to the game.

Who would be a monster 1 tech?

Think Bennett is too small for 1-tech, would be another 3-tech. It's now time for the FO to consider a 1-tech high in the draft...

So far it looks like the Cowboys are the only team negotiating with Ro. His agent just doesn't like the numbers they are offering.

Wilfork, Lotuleilei, Ngata, Danny Shelton. Those are what I consider monster 1 techs, because they are not just planet sized but are also explosive for their girth.

I'd still go pass-rush & pass rush DT. If a fast safety is available, I'd be on him.
