Improbable TD before the half

Schotty proven in more than one game that he will be aggressive with the clock running out in the first. He is the anti-McCarthy when it comes to clock management.
I actually think Schotty got bailed out there and needs to be more aggressive. Running the football with 23 seconds left from the 35 down to your last TO was a poor decision....It worked but it was a bad conservative decision. You're already well into FG range so 90% of runs there are going to be insignificant and completely kill the drive. Your QB is playing the best football of his career and you have two stud playmakers at WR. No reason to take the football out of Daks hands there with the FG already basically a gimme.

It demonstrated the sheer mastery Dak is putting on display now about as clearly as it can be. 80 yards in 45 seconds even after taking a sack to start things off? That is STOOPID... Thank you for highlighting that dew drop dime to Pickens. Lattimore was right there even with hands on Pickens and the ball still dropped right out of the sky into the bucket. I loved when Brady called it a "40 yard handoff!" As a receiver you just love those.. It looks like you made a spectacular play when in reality that thing was all on the QB. You would look like an absolute rube if you dropped it. Dak is ballin.. Until the defense gives me at least three straight games at this level I am not going to get emotionally invested in the SEASON but I am going to enjoy the HELL out of watching Dak and this offense. Especially watching the Dak haters implode the day after the games!! LOL!
Yes you can even add some of the ones that weren't caught I mean that ball hit Pickens right in the face in the first quarter the one that just turned into a I believe it was a penalty got us the ball in the 1 yard line I mean that ball hit him in the face a lot of these balls even when they're not being caught if you notice like to Tolbert and some of these other passes that were broken up it hit players in the chest I mean he's literally throwing lasers even if they're not being completed they're literally where they're supposed to be the defense just happened to make a play on a couple of those and swipe them away but they hit the guy in the chest first and then got pushed out of there...

I've seen Prescott play a lot like this in the past;

even as a rookie but he was inconsistent and he definitely wasn't controlling the defenses with his eyes his cadence walking up and screaming out all kinds of numbers, whether they're good bad or he's just saying them to affect the defense... We saw him in 2021 have 37 touchdowns and ten interceptions, he was playing grea,t hell if you want to take 2020 being a lot similar to this with the bad defense he was on fire, they just weren't winning games but that dude was playing great before he got hurt ,I don't think people remember that he was literally on this kind of pace in 2020...

In 2022 He comes off a bad calf early in the season then breaks his hand comes back actually plays a great second half Of course he was struggling He just came off a broken throwing hand and he's trying to play football and his receivers/TES couldn't catch a cold, they were letting balls bounce off their hands turning into interceptions and blaming Prescott, but he was playing well ,this is not new to me...

Now back to more recent 2023 he was robbed of an MVP ,he was playing just like this and now with a better play caller, someone designing schemes, where you're under center more ,you're marrying the run game with the pass game, I'm not saying that Mike Mccarthy was bad, this is just better,

This is just a step up any play calling and the scheme, even though a lot of these are the same plays they're being disguised there's more motion and there's a lot of plays that you don't know even though it looks like a run formation it could be a pass or a pass formation it can look like a run it's being disguised a lot better that is a better offense even if 2023 looked awesome, there's slight improvements there because of Brian Schottenheimer who should get a lot of this credit he is the OC technically he does call the plays he is the head coach..

One of the reasons he was hired is because he got a full Benefit of having Prescott give him a seal of approval in house, somebody that was very comfortable with him, and you could see it , they have a great relationship...

I think this deserves its own thread.

Defense gives up a demoralizing TD with 45 seconds left. Kickoff gets us to the 28 yard line with 40 seconds left. First play is a sack backing us up to the 21 yard line...in my head I can hear the gameday thread exploding about how boneheaded low IQ Dak can't give up a sack right there.

My first reaction after the sack, is to let time run out and go into the locker room with the lead before anything else bad happens. Instead Shotty calls a timeout with 31 seconds left on our own 21 yard line. Now I'm like ok..can we get 25 yards to give Automatic Aubrey a chance at the record.

Next play...a beautiful dime to Pickens 44 yards. Now im just happy we at least minimized the damage down by the last Washington TD. Let's take the FG and go into the half with an 8pt leaf instead of a 5 point lead. But start to ask, do you take another shot or settle for the FG. It's a run play...ok, we are positioning Aubrey for the FG and running down time...but no, JW runs 33 yards down to the 2 yard line. I'm contorting my body and leaning forward trying to will JW into the endzone. At this point, still happy we are going to get a FG but a little disappointed that extra defender was there to save the TD. Only 15 secs left no TOs, time for one more pass play...can't have a sack, no penalties, got to get rid of it if nothings there. A lot of risk to take on potentially last play after going 77 yards in 11 seconds. Still expecting only a FG out of it. Then BAM Dak to Ferguson for a 2 yard TD!!!!!!!!

Has to be one of the most memorable before the half drives in Cowboys history and against the team I despise the most. It was a thing of beauty!!!

This offense has been a pleasure to watch.

I know most are against making a trade for some defensive help, but the idea of wasting this offense is disgusting.

We need to make a move or two. The defense doesn't need to be dominant, just adequate.

Maybe before crapping on the idea of trading we see what the deal actually entails.

If the defense can follow up with a similar performance against Denver. I say wait and see how they do. As they will be getting a few players back.
Now they did leave a few players wide open Sunday and gave up a few 1st downs on 3rd and long. But they were much better. Although Washington was without their 3 op WR's.

Unless they can get a few defensive players without giving up those 1st round pick.

The run play leading to a TD was a happy accident for sure. It definitely seemed like they were happy with the FG and wanted to reduce the chances of a negative play and just take the points. Once he made it down to the 2, I'm pretty sure they were going for it if they had time for a 4th down play (minus a penalty). Sometimes things just work out.

It's certainly up there... I still might favor that laser shot he threw to Cooper in the almost comeback against Cleveland in 2020 as #1 though. Cause it was such a tight window. It must have passed throw the arms of 3 defenders on the way to Coop for the TD.

Schotty was playing for the fg which is what McCarthy would have done as well. The Williams run was luck. He should have let Dak try to throw a couple of times since they still had one timeout and still within fg range.

But, he called the run play and had he only stopped for a few yards, the next play would have been fg. The run was great by Williams but Schotty is getting too much credit for that drive.

I agree.... yes, the D stepped up and played better, but Daniels and his depleted WR corps missed on some opportunities where we were obviously beat and could have changed the whole tempo of the game had they connected...i.e. stuck with the running game bit longer and wearing down or DL. Plus, this would have been a different game if they had their top WRs. So you can color me skeptical on this D. They would have to do it over a period of games for me to change my mind.

As for trading for players...I wouldn't be opposed to trades especially if the talent level is a real upgrade compared to the draft position as long as the age and salary work for having the player for a few years and not wrecking the cap (including resigning immediately if necessary). I would like to hold on to those first, but if there is a real blue-chip out there that makes sense, we should consider, not for just this year but for the long-term. I just worry about making desperate trades with just this year in mind.

Yes. Agreed. Javonte Williams breaking that run 30+ yards down to the 2 yard line made Schotty look good, even though Schotty was clearly playing just for the FG. It is Dak who made the offense run to the ball, quickly get set, and struck Fergy for that quick throw to the flats for a TD as the last seconds in the Half were ticking down that made that quick striking series look so good.

Cowboys need to trade Tolbert away right now to someone who needs a #3 WR. In return, we could use a nice MLB, S or DT.

I forgot to mention that piece of genius the hurry up no-huddle play that completely caught them off guard. I can't remember if Washington had any timeouts left, but if they did, that was sire stupidity not using one right there.

Yeah I'm not advocating we give up first rounders either. Its all about who you get and for what costs.

They are already talking like running man vs Washington was because of the match up. Im worried/expecting to see a lot more zone against Denver. It's concerning...

Yeah, that was pretty awesome.

I streamed the game but was following the thread.

When Dak took the sack I was screaming how stupid they were and let the clock run out

I then saw the comments of the Pickens catch

That TD won the game and broke their back. It was a one score game and their ball and to give up a score like that was demoralizing
Just brutal for them to score before the end of the half only for us to score with the little time they left on the board.

That Dak to Pickens pass/catch was almost unbelievable.

At that moment, I was just happy to enjoy, whatever the final outcome.
