In 24 hours, suddenly, Grossman is a genius and Romo is just second-rate

And in the space of 24 hours, the Cowboys are no longer the hottest team and suddenly the Bears and N.O. are the teams to beat.

My, my. What a turnaround.

Now the major question is: Are the Cowboys smart enough to win the next 2 out of three games at home? Will they be focused for the stretch run?

The playoffs now run through Chicago and New Orleans and the Cowboys are merely among the ranks of the N. Carolinas and the Seattles and Atlantas.

Our glaring weak spot has been exposed. Our secondary.

Too, our coaching and game-strategy process have got to improve or else.

A great wakeup call that the Cowboys may be only pretenders.

like Steve Young has been saying when everyone was on the Romo/Cowboys train, give it another week. The NFC changes every week. Seattle too was becoming popular again until they ran into Zona yesterday.

BlueStar said it right.

The NFC changes from week to week.

This isnt even ESPNs "spin" on things.

Its very true. Until the Super Bowl the NFC "contenders" and "pretenders" will change every week even through the playoffs.

Parity.

exactly. If Dallas win their last 3, then they will be "hot" heading into the playoffs.

Agreed. But here's the problem: that ain't happening. I was called a "hater" for saying this yesterday (which I find funny as I've been a Cowboys fan for nearly 40 years and I'm also a season ticket holder...who lives in Houston, anyway...), but I have serious doubts that we are going to even make the playoffs. We lose to ATL, then we're pretty much done IMO. We will have then lost control of our destiny and will be sitting around the last two weeks scoreboard watching.

I've felt all year long that we were a .500 or so team, and once the season is over, that may prove to be the case.

No, I've felt that way pretty much all year. The NO game just confirms it. I simply refuse to be unrealistic about this team.

The typical knee jerk reactions after a big loss or win.....as far as Steve Young, I don't take anything he says very seriouly when it comes to Dallas as he still seems to have a hatred for Dallas.

I do find it funny that Romo seems to be taking the brunt, when it was our defense which really stunk up the joint.

Every player in the NFL has an occasional bad game. The have the occasional amazing game.

Teams are no different.

Sometimes you struggle because of what the other team is doing. That is exactly what happened Sunday night. Nawlins played and were coached brilliantly. They controlled the clock and wore our defense down. We've been doing that to other teams for a few weeks. Why are we so surprised it can happen to us?

Any given Sunday is a reality. It is a strange shaped ball and sometimes it bounces funny. When it does, things snowball and get rolling faster and faster. Call it inertia if you want.

What we saw from Romo was rare and special. Anyone who thinks any player can do that every single week needs to avoid Real Estate scam artists.

So the Cowboys came back to earth. So what? We still lead our division which is the toughest in the NFC (witness 3 teams in line for the playoffs), we're still looking at hosting a playoff game.

Tell me you wouldn't have been thrilled with that when Bledsoe was at the helm.

So we all have to visit the real world again. Is it really such a scary place?

Unrealistic?? I gotta tell you, if last week you thought that an 8-4 team (who had won 5 of 6) WASN'T going to make the playoffs with a 2 game lead on the rest of the conference with 4 to play... you are definitely a HATER.

BTW, if we lose to ATL, we still control our own destiny. We still play Philly, and Atlanta and Philly play Week 17. But by all means, keep screaming the sky is falling.

That wouldn't be unheard of. Ever hear of a self-loathing personality?

Dude, if you hate them... why do you post here?

j/k. :D

I don't think you're a hater because I've read your posts before and you're not a hater, IMO.

However, I do disagree with your take. If you don't think we're playoff material then you don't think we're top 6 in the NFC. To me, looking at the contenders... Dallas is definately top 6 in the NFC. Probably top 3. They've been playing that way except for Sunday night... and I've seen Troy, Emmitt and Michael have too many nights similar to the N.O. game to write this team off. It's one game. Look at all the other games that we played like Champs in.

Oh well... let's just watch and see. We'll know soon enough.

If Bledsoe had remained at the helm we lose the NY Giants game 2 weeks ago, we lose the Indy game and we are now talking about who we should draft next year.....as you said all QBs have bad games, Brady and Manning stunk up the joints on Sunday too in blowout losses.

I am more concerned with our defense being exposed as badly as they were than Romo finally having a bad game.

this is the espn over reaction world we live in.

Too many anaylsts, too much crowning of players and teams before january.

This is the way it goes. That is why when you hear salisbury or one of the other spares on espn start getting excited about people, that should be a note to back off.
