In Cole Beasley, Ryan Switzer, Cowboys go 'Dak friendly'

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones called Switzer a "Dak-friendly pick," which is perhaps the first time he swung the tag from "Romo friendly," to "Dak friendly."

The NFL is becoming -- or has become -- a "space player" game. Beasley is one of the more effective space players in the league. The New England Patriots operate one of the best offenses in the NFL without a narrowly defined No. 1 receiver by having space players like Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola.

yes, think "Dak friendly" fits nicely and yeah, look what Beasley did last year. Witten is nother one who knows how to find that open space. I think if you get better at finding those spots that will create that window for Dak, the offense will be much more efficient.

I think Switzer and Beasley gives us better opportunity to do that. btw this will help Dez as well

Dak is obviously much more comfortable throwing in front of him than down the sidelines or deep.

Part of that is Dez and TWilliams don't get a ton of separation. It took a while for Romo to trust them, and likely will take a while for Dak to get as comfortable.

Year one I agree he leaned on Beasley who had his best season of his career. I do however think as Dak develops we will see him take more shots down the field as he makes his reads quicker and recognizes the coverages the defense are using

I do miss those back shoulder throws from Romo to Dez. Those were indefensible. Dak isn't as comfortable with that throw.

True then again Dak has only played 1 season. I know he is more than capable since he was making the back shoulder throws in the pre season with Dez

I agree.

The timing takes practice though. Something Dak and Dez didn't have a lot of last year.

Jerry is smart. He mimics the patriots any time he can. They are all about creating mismatches. Either smaller, fast receivers on safeties and LBers or big fast guys on safeties and linebackers. Switzer will get open underneath at will if he can hold up.

Throwing to receivers who don't get a lot of separation is kinda what separates the haves and have nots. Anybody can throw the ball to wide open guys for the most part.

Is Dez gonna be able to earn his salary in this arrangement?

Dak and Dez were pretty comfortable after about 4 weeks of Dez coming back off the knee.
