In hindsight, if you could draft one player in the 2nd

Lol, did the OP change the original question of the thread because some of these answers make no sense?

That assumes facts not in evidence. He wouldn't have been any less over the hill in Dallas. A mentor? Perhaps, but that often seems overrated at the professional level.

Fine. I didn't see your selection. I came into this thread to participate.

Free agent pickups.... Eric Weddle.
We got cheap and now he will be representing the Ravens in the probowl.

Bobby Wagner in 2012.

That would mean that the Mo trade up didn't happen which would mean we would also have Michael brockers(our target in the 1st round)

The Mo trade cost us a Wagner/Lee linebacker corp and a stud defensive lineman

I remember clear as day folks laughing mockingly at Bobby Wagner and Brockers.

JPP

If we had signed him last year for that 1 year 10 million prove it deal, I believe we would have beaten Greenbay and advanced. JPP had 7 sacks but missed 4 games this year due to injury.

like 3 of those came in one week vs Cleveland.

Then what's your probkem?

Cal Poly questioned the title. I suggested he read the first post. Your post.
Clearly, the mod didn't take that into account when changing the title.
I enjoyed the thread until a couple yeah-whos were quick to judge but not
participate. And now, you. Damn, so much for conversation.
I explained it right above your post, back off is hardly threatening. Don't read it like it's aggressive.

I completely agree. Wagner was my guy in that draft. We would have had a chance to take him as well. Can go the same draft and just take Fletcher Cox and we would be in a much better situation IMO.

If I could have taken anyone besides Jaylon Smith at the time of the draft I would have went with Mackenzie Alexander. I about lost it when we took Jaylon Smith. I absolutely hated the pick and am still not a hug fan of it. I still am a big believer in this kid and think he is gonna make a fine NFL corner. After watching this season its hard to look at the Jaylon pick and be happy when Spence and Sheppard were sitting there.

Right. Not threatening. Aggressive maybe. Also unecessary. Whatever.
Too many on this board always looking to escalate anything and everything.
I did not see your post, as I was responding to a post at the top of the page.

Tell someone in person to back off and see how they react.

2015 draft: Danielle Hunter in the 3rd over Randy Gregory in the 2nd.

Hunter, Collins, Irving & potentially Tapper, could've given them at least a decent young core on the DL. Hunter has 18.5 sacks in 2 seasons. His pass rush instincts were considered average entering the draft. While Zimmer has stated he was raw, he also said he had little knowledge of technique. Hunter is a physical specimen with tremendous athleticism. He is also a high character guy and is still only 22 y/o. Even in college, he played the run well & was in the backfield (leading all SEC D-linemen in stuffs in 2014 & LSU w/13 TFL's), while also notching 73 total tackles.

No doubt he's benefited some from playing with Griffin, etc...but I think he would've done quite well here, as he's now learning to use technique rather than just his athleticism...& Marinelli is noted to be very good at teaching & drilling technique. Hunter also has a motor and a very good work ethic. He wants to get better & it's showing. He worked to add 7-lbs. of muscle in the offseason...then proceeded to finish the year with 12.5 sacks & 56 combined tackles, despite not being a starter, still learning/refining his technique, etc.

Both Gregory & Hunter were among the Cowboys official draft visits in 2015...as was Frank Clark, Bud Dupree, Eli Harold, Owa Odighizuwa, Mario Edwards, and the infamous Ryan Russell. Clark was another interesting guy, but he had the DV issue & they also brought Hardy in that same year.
