He has the speed, quickness and instincts to be used as a single free safety or as an in-the-box strong safety.

Kuechly - I still think it's a bit of a waste, but can't deny he's a great prospect

Carter at WOLB, Lee at MLB and Kuechly at SOLB would set this league ablaze. That's 3 LBs that the Cowboys gave 1st round grades to.

The DL could be Hatcher, Lissemore, Ratliff and Ware. Tell me that wouldn't work!

Honestly, I don't see the need to take that route either. The one thing about Jimmy's BA defenses in the 90's was quality depth. Players rotated in and out at a furious pace. So much, in fact, that many predicted that he Buffalo Bills would slaughter us in Super Bowl XXVII because their quick paced K-gun offense would prevent us from making our substitutions, thus wearing our defense down. We all saw how that turned out.

I see Carter as a situational guy in that scenario, honestly.

I'm fine with that scenario too, but I hope they didn't put a 1st rd grade on a situational guy. I recall them hyping him up as a 3 down player. It’s clear Lee is a 3 down player and Kuechly looks to be of the same mold. So why not get all 3 on the field as much as possible.

Plus now you could let Spencer walk….

He was rated as a 1st round player, but the reality (and value) is that he was picked in the 2nd. This team runs enough 4 man fronts to make Carter of value either way, IMHO.
