Alright CC, but I need to see it, and the basic math just isn't adding up for me.
You want to prove something to me then bring the 2005 cap to the table and how this team is possibly going to be able to compete even within our own division.
I'm just talking 2005, we can break down the next 3 years as well.
lol, and this was more of the complete picture at work...

Think about it this way: Currently on injures reserve are Dak Prescott, DeMarcus Lawrence, Zack Martin and Trevon Diggs. Those guys alone count $93.5 million against the $255.4 million salary cap. That right there consumes 37 percent of the cap. And if we add in other players with Pro Bowls on their resumes missing multiple games, guys such as Brandin Cooks, Micah Parsons and Daron Bland, that's another $17 million, that comes to $38.2 million of cap dollars at some point missing games.

And by COO Stephen Jones calculation, there is currently $102 million total dollars on injured reserve, so 40 percent. Someone needs to lay hands on this team for the rest of this year and going forward with some of these rehabs to get this team healthy.

They can create a massive amount of cap space VERY easily

Path to $100 mm

Current Cap $23 mm
Steele cut $14mm
Dak savings $36mm
Safeties cut $8mm
CD savings $20mm
Micah extention$15mm
Diggs restructure $6mm

Saved $122mm

He's waiting for his detractors to go away and quit making him relevant and making him more money. Until that happens, he'll be in no hurry to change. He can afford to wait.....Other GMs are employees that can be fired...they can't wait. Again, Jerry won't change, until we fans stop watching or caring. The question is, who is willing to do that? Are you? I'm not....
It's not even at the stage of an after action analysis and planning.

they don't have a plan until the hour dictates it.
they are not very smart football people.
they wait and react because they do not have a plan.

I know all on site here thinks that Red Bull brings you wings. The season isn't over. The quality of actual team depth still has to be evaluated. There is enough available cap to do just about what it is they really want to do.

With seven starters out, the players weren't kept from individual success because of Jerry Jones. It isn't even played out and there is a chorus of singing in the rain with non-stop crying.

This fan will at least let it play out before my own values are used for how I see football. I'm not at all unfamiliar with the process or even how NFL types of progress work.

No, it just isn't a Jerry and Stephen failure. Just the way things really are, without chocking biases.
Very colorful nonsense. Now, let’s hope the New York Giants don’t pull off an off season like Washington just did.

He is living his best life. God bless him.
Exactly, does anyone actually believe that Jerry cares about what any fan or media has to say?
Jerry knows his existence is becoming short at this point in his life, does anyone actually believe that public opinion is going to change what Jerry wants to do?

Jerry has ALWAYS been reactive and not proactive. It's apparent he doesn't really know what he's doing. You can look at every successful team in any sport and see how they operate and Jerry does very little of what they do. It's all about staying in the media and money for him, not winning.

In the National Football League if you are a GM, HC or some other kind of decision maker, knowing what you want better not take too long. Leaders must be proactive, well planned and decisive to get a competitive advantage. In short, in the NFL waiting is losing. Jerry’s infamous quote about “being comfortable with ambiguity” may work well in the business world, but in the world of professional football, ambiguity is stupid.

It was obvious all last off-season that for some dumb reason Jerry Jones waited…and waited….to do what effective NFL GMs know well in advance needs to be done early and decisively. If you are going to sign a player you already have, the sooner you do it, the better it is for the other big decisions you must make. Waiting on some mystical something to happen is destructive to any team working competitively against 31 other teams vying for talent and advantages.

The 2024 season was torpedoed before the ball was even kicked off in Cleveland in game one. Jerry waited until the last minute to sign two expensive players he knew in March he was going to sign. Whether you like signing Cedee or Dak, refusing to get their contracts done early in order to clear some cap space was destructive. It placed all pressure on the draft because no help could come from anywhere else.

So here we are in December, 2024, already eliminated from the playoffs with the entire current coaching staff on expiring contracts, your team’s most talented player Micah Parsons on the precipice of his second contract, and once again, “Mr. Ambiguity” and his giggling son are apparently sitting on their hands. Both have indicated in radio interviews, they have made no decisions nor are they planning to do anything until the season’s over.

Maybe they don’t want McCarthy back and are already planning for their next HC. (I seriously doubt that) But if they are planning on bringing Mac back, why not get the deal done now so players who are heading into FA already know who’s going to be here. If they plan on re-signing Parsons, what’s the hold up? Every single day that passes will cost more and more for his services. Why wait?

So the questions remain for a front office that looks completely flat footed and lazy.
  • What kind of team do you want to build for 2025?
  • Who would be the best head coach to lead this team in 2025?
  • If you want Parsons here long term, why wait to get a deal done? (If he’s not in your plans, what do want in a trade?)
  • What positions does this team need to upgrade in order to make a deep playoff run in 2025?
If they plan on waiting until summertime to once again answer the above questions, 2025 will already likely be a failure. Why? Because in the NFL, waiting is losing! How long before Jerry and Giggles learn this?
Totally agree 100%. But thats been the case for a long time back with Dak first contract and second, and others. Then they play the negotiating in the media, and talking crazy and playing the waiting game and then other players see how they navigate with their star players which causes issues. They dont learn. But I have realized they love the show, making money means more than a good football team in Dallas.

Yes, sarcastically I’d say our fuhrer could live, oh maybe, another 15-20 years.

Great stuff !!

I’d say the reason they wait is to play the public perception game . That’s more important to Jethro than what’s best for the team.

In other words he felt pulling the trigger too early on Dak he’d receive more criticism for caving in . Waiting until last minute not as much criticism.

Same thing with MM. pubic perception is swinging more in favor of resigning MM now than previously but it’s not over yet.

We see this time and time again.
If Jerry wants to get Big Mac signed on again, he better get busy. First of all, Mac ain’t coming back as the 16th highest paid HC in the NFL. Jerry’s cheap but if I was Big Mac I would expect top 10 money to put up with the level of bull excrement from the Jones circus.

If Jerry wants the cheapest deal possible for Parsons, he better get him signed asap because that price tag won’t get a penny cheaper going forward.
