Injuries are killing the Defense

Defense was dominant before Hankins arrived. So this about Anthony Brown, Dorrance, and LVE mostly. The front office gambled on not addressing the DL and , as a result, we are paper thin there and at CB. Opposing offenses are plenty aware and simply scheme around the pass rush. Until we can stop the rpo, it’s going to be rough sledding and not a lot of sacks.

Our pass rush was dominant but we struggled against the run, which is why we traded for Hankins. We were getting gashed up the middle yesterday. He really helped us in that area but we’ve struggled with perimeter runs all season.

Sure but there’s nothing that tells me that if Wright was put in Joseph’s spot he wouldn’t have gotten torched as well.

The point probably much more lies in the idea that those two picks were designed to replace Brown and Lewis but either cannot or aren’t ready.
Brown was bad this season. Lewis was just ok. Bland has been better then Lewis. You hit it on the head about Joseph being the second corner. Wright was a project. If the Cowboys drafted Samuel Jr. like 90% of the board wanted the team would have been ok. Wright was basically a comp pick. The number 1 problem with the defense is the pass rush fallen off completely since the Minnesota game. I don’t know what happened.

Has anyone heard anything about Dorance Armstrong's injury? During the game it was mentioned he had a knee injury but I haven't seen or heard anything since. Is he playing Saturday?

Have missed significant playing time, or are out for the season.

It's nice to say next man up, but the above players were Starters because they were the best at their position.
To expect back ups to play at the same level is unreasonable.

The defense is in serious trouble with this loss of talent.

Quinn is a great coach but not a miracle worker.

Buckle up, the ride is about to get extremely bumpy.

Be very thankful that major injury hasn't hit the prime time star core players such as Parsons, Diggs, Dak, Martin, or Lamb ....

The Browns,... LVE's ...and Lewis types are decent- serviceable types.
What's really hurting is the lack of quality depth behind the Browns and LVE's ... but we seem to have struck gold with rookie Bland playing the slot.

The Cowboys went 4 and 1 with their backup qb. The Jags gave up a pressure that ended up with Lawrence fumbling in the last 2 minutes. The Jags went 3 and out in overtime.

The Cowboys lost Tyron Smith before they even played a game and they are 10 and 4. Winning 6 of their last 8 and winning 4 of their last 5 isn't falling apart. Falling apart is what the Rams did at 4 and 10. Falling apart is what the Titans are doing. Falling apart is what the Bucs are doing.

The only thing that is unreasonable is to use those injuries as excises. Injuries happen to all teams every year. You either have good enough players in reserve to carry on or you fold up shop and go home. The Cowboy way is to spend all the resources on a few shiny trinkets. When the trinkets break you pack up shop and say how good you would have done if not for the bad luck. Our trinkets are breaking and Bossman Fat is not going to save the day.

I know this is the NFL narrative, but the healthier team often wins in the playoffs. The starters are starters for a reason. Does anyone think the Bucs beat the Chiefs two years ago if the Chiefs don't lose their starting tackles? Everyone is beat up, but when you lose multiple players at a position and a defensive player or 2 at every level, the defense HAS to have a drop off.

The NFL is all about the injuries and making money.

He had an ankle sprain going into the game.
I just assumed he tweaked it ?

Good thing is we have depth at the Dline. Bland is already damn good in the slot. We are really missing AB. Hopefully Bland can go outside and KJ can man the slot.

Then we need to plug in speed at LVEs spot, and rotate well. Maybe Cox is ready to step up...

I think that they may move Bland outside and bring a new guy into the slot.

Only guys I'm missing is Brown and Hankins. Maybe LVE but most of his tackles are 5 yards from the scrimmage line-not 5 in back.
