It sounds like what Stanback had was a subluxation, not a dislocation... that's where the shoulder pops out of the socket, and pops right back in on its own... once you've had one of those, you're subject to them the rest of your life...

Yes, this is the voice of experience speaking... believe it or not, every time I hurt mine, it was on a golf course... subluxations hurt like hades when they happen, and are sore for a few hours afterward, but they're really not all that big a deal... some NFL players had long careers in spite of this condition, my understanding is there is a kind of harness that can support the shoulder...

A buddy of mine has the same thing happen. His shoulder will go at almost any moment but he recovers from it pretty quick.

He underwent surgery a few years back to try and fix it but he said that it still happens every now and then.

It happens to me all the time, too, almost every time I do something fun. It all started when I fell off a roof (don't ask).
It does bother me a little bit that Stanback has had all of these injuries and then he makes an issue out of a thing like this (which hurts, but it happens, and you can still do just about anything you want to do after it pops back in, although I wouldn't recommend that he chunk a football with that arm for a few days). Actually, as I type this, I realize that I don't really know if he's making an issue out of it or if he was held out precautionarily.
