Injury Thread

So what kind of horrific mojo is it to post an injury thread? I mean injuries are probably the first or second most influential thing about a team's success and they are just about completely random. They are the ultimate wildcard. The unyielding, unstoppable force that, as the NFL has become bigger, faster and more violent, has now become a bigger part of the game than ever before.

We know we are going to have some. We know that there is a very high probability that multiple injuries will be year ending ones. Maybe even career ending ones.

So is it horrible to have a thread that attempts to predict injuries? To ponder how many injuries a team can sustain and still have a good shot at a title?

The thing about expectations, and whether we want to admit it or not, this year comes with more than most in the last 20 years, is that they make the stakes seem higher. In that respect, potential injuries also bring a feeling of bigger stakes.

So how much "damage" can the Cowboy ship take this year without sinking? Will the competition and potential depth help buffer the oncoming onslaught of injuries in 2015?

I'd love this thread to be more than just a "if we lose Romo or Dez the season is over" thread. Or a "Sean Lee will only play 3 games for sure dude" thread. Injuries are usually not the ones we would have predicted. And neither is health. Who would have had confidence that Murray could survive 400 touches last year? Very few, I imagine.

I know some won't be happy about this thread, but, in a way, it feels like by having this discussion before the storm hits, we might handle it with more aplomb when it arrives.

Personally, I want to believe our injury woes are already over. Laurence Gibson broke a finger; Chris Boyd was waived-injured, and Gavin Escobar has a sore hammy. ;)

I expect more injuries on offense in 2015 and fewer on defense

Anybody that believes something they post will jinx the team has a hugely inflated sense of self importance.

Having said that, if they have injury issues I now have somebody to blame (you).

Usually the older the player, the more likely they are to get injured..............also the more contact they endure, the more likely they are to get injured.

That is why you really don't see a lot of old RBs for example, probably the shortest shelf life of all NFL positions

As how injuries will affect Dallas this year, nobody really knows......................about the only thing for certain is that if Romo goes down and Weeden has to finish out the season................5 win team max.
