How much more needs to happen before the team trades for Roy Williams?

I remember an article during the off-season that said Dallas was a good team but that they were due to catch the injury bug. Talk about prophetic. Roy, Newman, Romo, Hurd, Kosier, Spencer and Felix with tweaked hammys, McBriar. Good gravy.

Now we can get Stanback to suit up. Amendola too

I don't think Amendola has got what it takes. Stanback at least has the size, speed and RAC ability. The potential is at least there for him to become something. Hurd is just too limited athletically to ever amount to much.

Is blind team optimism effecting the training staff too? Because Newman, Spencer and Hurd have all required surgeries on injuries suffered weeks before. It would be nice if we could get these surgeries out of the way and get them started on the rehab process before they've wasted two months in the trainer's pool.

I remember that same article. It was a guy on first take and he a book about and said the cowboys would get a lot of injuries this season.

It is mostly based on measurables/potential. He is small and doesn't have elite level speed/quickness/hops. Not many players who fit this description end of making it.

Sam Hurd re-injured his ankle that he hurt during the preseason finale and needs surgery. Wade Phillips wasn't sure how long Hurd would be sidelined, but the Cowboys will be without their No. 4 WR and a core special teamer for a while.

Other injury news:

P Mat McBriar (ankle) and RB Felix Jones (hamstring) will have MRIs today.

OLB Anthony Spencer (hamstring) is week-to-week. By the way, Spencer's injury forced the personnel change on the punt team that Arizona's Sean Morey exploited on the game-winning block.

Phillips stopped short of saying that QB Tony Romo (broken right pinkie) would be out a month.

"We don't know how long that he'll be out," Phillips said. "It depends on how fast that'll heal."
