News: Inside Slant: Green Bay's distinct, winning formula at wide receiver

Of course, if Dallas throws the ball to Escobar or Street and they fail to make the play, it'll be all "Y U NOT THROW IT UP TO DEZ???"

true but they might make the play also. They all are capable receivers or they would not be on the team.
they could also be wide open.

Give me Dez, Williams, Beasley, and Street over their guys any day.

Also helped on the play in question that we didn't get any pressure.... With Rodgers quick release he has done this, not necessarily TD producing every time, but more times than not gets the 1st down.

Yeah, big difference having Byron Jones instead of Moore and having Greg Hardy instead of George Selvie. Less time to find the open WR and a smaller area to throw it to.

Are they insulting you because you are not big or not slow.... Please clarify.

oh i see. now you're joining in and mocking my intelligence!!! or lack thereof...

this place is so hela-mean to me!!!

No you misunderstand. If I am going to punish the heathens I have to know what I am punishing them for. I think you are fast as ice in a glass of Texas sweet tea and your mass is all in your imgination.

i'm pretty sure my mass stresses out my jeans also, but that's another story.

And we will leave it at that... Have a good evening KJJ... back to our original discussed thread

4 WRs spread out plus a TE are not working with a vicious pass rush.
Our pass rush was horrific last year. Hopefully it'll never be that bad again.

Its a different way to build a good recieving corps. You can do it with a collection of 2nd amd 3rd round picks, but you are going to have to invest 3 or 4 day to picks to ensure a top flight WR corps. It also really helps when Jordy Nelson has played to the level of a top 10 pick.

Going for and hitting on that elite "Dez Bryant" type bell cow WR allows to fill your other WR spots with less premium picks. The two WRs with him that fill out our top 3 are a 3rd rounder and a UDFA.

I'd take our receivers over theirs any day. Especially as Jordy Nelson is 30 already.

If you include TEs in the equation, I agree the Cowboy's overall WR / TE corp is superior the Packers. I'm not sure the Packers have a TE who would even make the Cowboys roster.

If you are looking at just WRs, I'd think you'd have to give the edge to the Packers
  • Dez is a superior talent to Nelson that is obvious. Having said that, their production over the past 2 years is pretty much identical. Both are pro-bowlers
  • Cobb is a pro-bowler and is better than Williams. Cobb is considered the best slot WR in the NFL at this point. He is 24 years old and already has over 3000 yards and 25 TDs. He's actually younger than Williams.
  • Hard to compare Davante Adams and Cole Beasley. Two different types of WRs, however, Adams looks like he could have WR1 potential -- he went over 100 yards against the Patriots and Cowboys last year. Beasley is a top notch slot WR.
  • Not sure who the Packers WR4 is so hard to compare to Street. Might be their 3rd round pick from Stanford this year.

Dez is definitely better than Nelson, and he is also much younger.

Cobb gets the jump on Williams, but if you asked me who I wanted between the top twos, I'd go with the Cowboys.

Cole Beasley is about to become one of the best slot receivers in the NFL. I'd take him over Adams, especially with the guys we have on the outsides.

I'd take what we have, especially when you consider the tight ends.

Not only do they have talented WR's they also run a very dynamic passing scheme.

I love the Packers offense.

That "dynamic passing scheme" with all that "talent at WR" with just as many Super Bowls as the Cowboys since their 2010 Super Bowl, a season where they had a top 5 defense, not a top 5 offense.

GB runs a west coast offense the short routs and slants are a big part of it. Much of Marnielli defense tampa 2 was designed to stop the WCO and did when it was ran in Tampa Bay

You sound like you are very high on Williams. What about his game makes you favor Williams over Cobb?

In the grand scheme of things, a Top 5 defense is worth a LOT more than a Top 5 offense.

There is no way I would take Beasley over Adams. I think that Adams is going to have a great year.
