I guess the issue is how much better is Emmitt than Barber/Jones combo. Sure he is a great runner but I don't know he adds a huge amount of value here.

OTOH, we clearly lack a good #2WR opposite TO. Michael Irvin >>> Patrick Crayton and this dumps Crayton to #3WR and Crayton >> Hurd. So now you have greatly improved two positions by adding one player.

You don' t top the All time lists in rushing and 2 in tds and not improve the rb position. Barber is no Emmitt Smith. Case in point the Giant game in the playoffs Barber runs out of gas and Emmitt keeps going after a seperated shoulder.Emmitt was all heart

I pick Irvin and by a wide margin. Mike brought something that hasn't been on the team since he retired. Just an unmatched desire and passion. I remember seeing him on the sidelines after the injury and he was more intense and more in-tune with what was going on than some of the guys on the field. Wanted the ball every single down and if he was on this team right now injecting that same sort of energy, desire and will to win, I don't think there would be many days were Dallas came up short on the scoreboard.

This seems to be the consensus, although it's almost heretical to decline the NFL's all-time leading rusher. And Wade's 3-4 left me wondering how many of Landry's or JJ's d-linemen would be able to adapt.

Tough question for me. A speed WR opposite TO would make this team virtually unbeatable. Makes me think of Bob Hayes.

Irvin is probably a better overall WR than Hayes. Might go him.

Larry Allen is the single most dominant player we ever had. Him and Davis on the same OL might be unreal to watch.

I always wondered what Ed Jones could do on a 3-4 D-line.

Randy and Bob aren't really NT types but they were pure football players and either could play DE if need be.

Hard to not think about Emmitt with this passing attack taking pressure off him and Barber to give him a breather.

I always wanted to see Aikman and Staubach with a wide open Offense.

Woodson in his prime or Harris could make our secondary virtually perfect.

After balancing all of that I'd have to go with Irvin, because I think we are a WR opposite TO from unbeatable. Irvin would fire up everyone.

Let me fill out the rest of the division:

Giants: LT
Eagles: Reggie White
Commanders: Green? Deion? Ken Houston?

Why people believe that more is better is beyond me. Sometimes more just means more. Plus what wide open offense has won a SB and remember The Rams ran the same offense we did in the 90's, also that offense would not go without Marshal.

with all the selections of irvin because it would be him and T.O..... does anybody remember the vikings offense with carter and moss? that worked out for them huh? the giants proved defense still wins championships.

Maybe so, but Jerry wouldn't have sniffed around RW and Boldin if he was happy with what he had.

yeah, but our current defense is light-years better than the defense that Minnesota had

Irvin would not only be a huge help to the offense, but his leadership and competitive drive would be huge

Add Drew Pearson at slot and this team would own the league for a decade. Easy.

I think White or Lilly would thrive in a 3-4 or any defense or they would die trying--and nobody would be underachieving on their team.

Man, that's hard!! Well, I think Woodson, but could be R. White/ Haley/Irvin/ Deion/ K. Smith/ E. Williams/ Troy/ Larry A. lol This is way too tough.

This is one of those questions that has several correct answers.

Obviously, any of the current or near future (L. Allen, D. Sanders, E. Smith) Hall of Famers would bring something significant to the table.

I'd go with Staubach, mostly because he was a super hero who happened to play football. I'd give up a pinky finger to see Staubach do it all again. Seriously.

Irvin.

But I miss the blocking and hole-opening that Moose provided.

And the odds of him sneaking off to Mexico with some floozy are like a billion to one.

he wasent sneaking off somewhere, you do know that Jason Witten was with him right?

To me, its a no brainer: Emmitt Smith. You need someone who can get the tough yards during the 2nd half of championship games.

2nd place would be Roger Staubach. (But I think Romo has more talent and "potential" to be greater than Roger and Troy but you know what they say about potential)

Irvin would be nice for the team, but I think I would pick Deion before Irvin.

All of you are missing the boat... Tony Dorsett is my choice.. Romo, TO and Dorsett in his prime = Championship

Obvious choice is Irvin. Holy cow. Romo, TO, Irvin, and Witten? Tears of joy.

Paul Palmer of Raphael Septian...

How about Chris Boniol???

Curvin Richars anyone? Eddie George... nobody???
