Of course you would. It doesn't matter what you think, THE MARKET HAS SPOKE for Dez so he won't have to say anything. Matter of fact if I were him I'd think about holding out for more money. Lol

ALMOST, Hardly they tried to low ball or pay Watkins what he deserves a relatively unproven WR and it failed..he was overpaid anyway and remember Dez being cut and still having to be replaced really doesn't save us much money..*** has Watkins done that Dez hasn't or can do ? i realize he had down year but so did the entire offense..Almost got replaced by Watkins
Too bad Dez isn't the WR getting doubled.
I'll guess, I'll guess. It was Patrick Crayton's fault. If that excuse no longer works, the my 2nd guess is the defense. Those 2 excuses have gotten our QB void of blame for a decade.Have you watched the video of how bad the balls were going to Dez this year? Sure Dez needs to play better ? But all of our WR's had off years, what was the common denominator?
I bet if Crayton was the qb we wouldn't notice the difference.I'll guess, I'll guess. It was Patrick Crayton's fault. If that excuse no longer works, the my 2nd guess is the defense. Those 2 excuses have gotten our QB void of blame for a decade.
The totally botched the Dez situation. If they wanted to request that he takes a pay cut, they should have spoke with him and his agent months ago.

Maybe not. I just know nothing is Dez or Romo's fault so something or someone else has to be it.
I respectfully disagree. Dez was never going to take a pay cut. His ego wouldn't let that happen. So in reality it was never an option, so we haven't lost anything.
The team may keep Dez or it may still cut Dez. That remains to be seen. If the Cowboys are masking their intentions in the draft they have played the Dez situation masterfully. If they intend to keep Dez, IMHO that's a big mistake, but it is what it is.
We may draft a receiver in the draft and cut Dez no matter where the receiver is drafted. If you look strictly at the cap implications of Dez, dispassionately and without emotion vs his past three years' production he is an easy cut.
If we draft a guy and all of the free agency money has dried up we could also THEN approach Dez about a pay cut and he would be looking at a whole different market and different parameters for taking a pay cut. Of course Dez would be mad as hell (and maybe rightly so) but I think the Cowboys are NOT happy with Dez right now and probably don't care if he gets pissed off.
That was the theory last season.
I noticed balls bouncing off his hands and helmet. A fumble that turned from a scoring opportunity to the opposing team scoring a TD. How much better would his stats have been had he not dropped them..Have you watched the video of how bad the balls were going to Dez this year? Sure Dez needs to play better ? Dez was doubled every play vs the Raiders with the exception of the deep ball he caught. That shows ypu that dc still respect him.
Dez is another 21st century Cowboys "star" who hasn't been part of anything close to a championship, much less a major reason for it, who Jerry pays and some fans cling to as though he's irreplaceable: "OMG, we can't lose him! Who would replace him? How can we possibly fall short again without him?" I added that last part, which is generally unspoken.
Until the evaluation process improves to the point of knowing the difference between an NFL star and the guy who happens to be the best on your team at that position, the Cowboys will continue to overpay guys who have never won anything. Apparently the hope is if they get enough of those guys they'll win...or something.

It was like some people being terrified to move on from Brandon Carr and his $10 million a year salary and you had to come up with his replacement before some fans would entertain the idea of cutting him. They just couldn't be sold on the idea that we could get another CB who gave up a ton of receptions and not make many plays on the ball for much less than $10 million a year.
