Just seems like bad luck on our part. As tony was throwing the ball, because of the rush, ogletree stopped his route and romo thought he was going to keep going across the field.

McLovin;4790260 said:Romo was very late on the throw - should have hit ogletree right as he crossed the 20, right out of the break when OTs head spun around (ball in the air around the 23yd line). He threw across his body. Never should have made that throw.
That said, Livings whiffed the block. The route and play worked to perfection otherwise (no sarcasm).
Bluestang;4790271 said:I thought Costa didn't slide to the left (from the camera view) to pick up the middle guy who squeezed through the left side A-gap behind Livings' man who got overextended on his block.
The interior of the pocket was compromised when Costa didn't slide over and left too much of a gap between Livings and himself to allow the defender to get by Livings.
Look at how Costa and Bernadeau are blocking one guy.
The protection got beat at the snap.
That's more on Costa not taking care of his left A-gap.

Free made a nice recovery. Still never should have attempted that throw. Should have thrown it low.
Bluestang;4790283 said:IIRC it was a 3rd down play after Smith got called for holding.
Romo should have thrown the ball away but the play was doomed from the snap.
Just a tip on how I evaluate film...I start with the line blocking 1st, routes downfield, and then QB. I also try to look at how the defense is lined up, DBs using inside/outside tech w/ press or off, safety backpeddle to landmarks to figure out the coverage.
It takes several rewinds for me to put it all together.
McLovin;4790290 said:Good priority, I bet you may not use an android/iphone as well.
I couldnt see the DBs/WRs in this one, maybe the phone. I agree they play looked doomed, but it didnt need to be an INT. That didnt cost us the game, but that is a smh error for a vet QB

FWIW..that play on offense had Witten running an in route along with Otree running the same in route at a deeper depth (15 yds). Witten's route carries the LB with him so that Romo can hit Olgetree in stride after his cut.
Because the protection breaks down Romo has to roll right and as Ogletree makes his cut and looks back for the ball he sees Romo rolling away so he stops to try and come back to him. Romo should have thrown the ball away but he didn't.
I can live with that from him because it's what he does and how he makes plays by extending them.
McLovin;4790309 said:I saw the witten route, also the slot CB on OT peeled off but couldnt see Dez's or Austins routes. That why i said the play design was nice. Costa, as you said, broke down, that led to Tony breaking down.
Once he saw OT going laterally away from him, he shouldnt have thrown it. I think OT made the better read by stopping. The safety (who ultimately intercepted it) was now in position to make a play.
