Definitely looks like Romo thought Otree was going to keep running, but that cross field throw is a big no no...a LOT of Romo's interceptions come on that type of throw. Probably complete if Ogletree keeps running.
The other thing is Romo had 4 seconds....he could have thrown it away, which would have been the wise move since everyone was running away from the way he rolled to escape pressure.
This was not a against your body cross field throw, this was a set your feet, square your body and throw, which he did. The funny thing is that if he does not set like a QB is supposed to and throws agaist his body on the run a bit it likely would not have been an int as Ogletree would not have stopped his route because the ball would have been on its way a second earlier.
Because Romo took the time to set and make on on-balance throw, Ogletree had the time to make a decision to stop his route. This is a time when the Qb saw an open WR and the communication was not there. I am not saying Ogletree made a big mistake here at all. He was trying to help the QB who was being flushed away from his route.
I think Romo did the right thing here. I think Ogletrees decision was a sound one as well - the timing between those 2 decision was a split second off. The result was an int!
