Believe I'd prefer Hitchens over the arthritic gang . . .

Hitchens will have a starting spot when the year begins... the problem is right now he's our second best available LB... who is #3? Gachkar has potential but never really been a starter here or in SD. Wilson might have potential, looked a lot like Hitchens coming out of the draft, but hasn't done anything yet, after that it's late round/undrafted prospects, or guys we know can't start. Then there's the fact that we know one LB is horribly injury prone. Unless we are hoping for Smith to make a miraculous recovery right here and now we need someone else who could potentially step up and play.

Lee / Hitch / Wilson is my projection for the final. if we don't bring anyone else in.

He played the sam here in 14. Considering the amount of nickel and other passing alignments I don't think they will pay a veteran sam who can't stay healthy.

I honestly think if lee and hitchens stay healthy we will be fine, but neither has proven they can do that.

Playing the 4-3 means its not as hard to find linebackers so imo they will grab someone during cuts the first week of september if the nzochea/wilson/king's on this roster show they can not handle it.

there are always a large number of 4-3 backers floating around.

Mine too... but that scares me. Hitchens is a great backup, barely serviceable starter. Wilson... well who knows yet. And Lee is injury prone as can be.

I would think about Durant if we could work out a reasonable deal. He has value to us because he can play all three LB positions well and he has experience in our Defense. He's started and played in games so there is value there but, as a replacement to ROMAC, that's not him. Durant can't be a starting MLB for us IMO. He will be on the shelf in a matter of a few games. We need somebody else to start as MLB in my opinion.

I'm inclined to believe that the Cowboy powers that be will decide to choose between those already in house rather than someone who is not.

Those you've mentioned as possibilities will more than likely be the first to be introduced as the candidates to fill the needed vacancies, imho.

If I were Dallas I would cut Ro-Mac today and sign Durant for depth. He knows the scheme and can make all the calls; something only Sean Lee and sadly McClain were trusted to do last year.

At this point, signing Durant for one year at the veterans minimum can't hurt and can only help the younger linebackers develop.

Yea, I'm interested in his talents...not an engine that doesn't seem to run on all cylinders.

no problem with durrant for a short term deal. Hitchens and Wilson will be fine. 4-3 linebacker isn't a hard position to fill. Especially since we have a real 1 tech to tie up blockers and let them run vs fighting thru traffic all the time.

I think I'd rather have Lee in the middle. You take advantage of his smarts and instincts by putting him in position to make plays sideline to sideline.

A lot of people keep forgetting about Thorton. I agree he will be huge for helping us plug the middle. Really if D-Law is as dangerous as he was at the end of last year (which might be a big if) our only real weakness on the line is opposite him once he gets back. Still though wouldn't mind Durant at all

God are these LBs awful. It may be our worst group since pre-Parcells.

Cmon Damien Wilson. Emerge.
