WR Derrick Mason: They (the refs) trash talked to us the whole game. I've never seen anything like it.

Samari Rolle: He (Referee McKinally?) Called me "boy" the whole game. That's why we were so mad last night. You don't call a grown man "boy". It's disrespectful. He won't strap on a helmet and call me "boy". (McKinally is black just for the record)

What is that all about? I always hated the '72 Dolphin players, they are annoying as heck and I really wanted to see another team go undefeated, but there is way to much BS surrounding this team for my liking.

I think I saw that same segment. I thought Rolle was talking about Scott and why he went off the way he did.

You could definitly see some jawing going on between Scott and that ref at that point in the game.

What we don't know is if the refs were also talking to the Pats like that. They may have been doing just that.

I've never seen a team cry like a bunch of 1st graders like the Ravens do. Suck it up. You had several oportunities and can only blame yourself. And your coaches for that matter.

It's bad form if the refs go back and forth with the players like that. The most refs should say to players is to briefly explain a rule or call, and then tell them to go back and play.

If the refs did do that, regardless of if they were jawing to the Pats, too or not, they've got to be sanctioned for that.

I agree. This is not the NBA where the refs do that all the time.

I was once a big fan of the NBA but I can't even watch their games anymore because of the systematic favoritism of the NBA superstar officiating. It gets to the point where a reasonable fan has to wonder if the "superstar" is a product of their play or the referees.

If this indeed happened the NFL needs to deal with it, if they take the path of the NBA they are making a huge mistake......

They also talk major trash. Maybe the refs just told them to shut up.

Nevertheless, Samari Rolle sound credible (he put the loss on the team and didn't adopt the Crayton line) so I believe him when he said the refs called him "boy."

Good luck with that though. It's going to be a he-said/he-said.

Exactly.

I was listening to some ESPN radio guy (John Kincade, I think) and he was saying that the Ravens' complaining was ridiculous because the Ravens didn't need any help from the refs to lose to an 11-0 team. They were 5-7 and so it's no wonder they would lose to an undefeated team. Um, hello? That's exactly how this kind of junk gets started. A superior team is behind, there's a questionable call, and the underlying thinking is that surely the better team must have made that close play because, well, they're better.

That's not how you do it. You call the play according to the letter of the law, and whoever wins, wins.

after that lame defensive holding penalty at the end, it sure looked like the ref was saying *** to the defensive player.

The way this season has gone for the tapriots, the NFL as a governing body is no better than MLB or pro wrestling.

Mike Winters got suspemded for the rest of the MLB season for "baiting" Milton Bradley.

Here is the penalty Breakdown for the Patriots in their closest games:

Penalty-Yards

Patriots 5-50
Cowboys 12-100

Patriots 10-146
Colts 4-25

Patriots 7-44
Eagles 3-18

Patriots 4-30
Ravens 13-100

Now, I am not sure when all the penalties occurred, but things don't seem to be going the way of the Patriots everytime.

Maybe goods teams don't make as many mistakes.

you can take this with a grain of salt, or you can see what might be hidden inside what i'm about to say - but 3 years ago when i was consulting with an entertainment attorney, he said one of his jobs was to drop off the script for the game to the appropriate people. a cowboys game, that is. while he'd never come out and say it the implication was that a bulk of the games, or at least the important ones are scripted to a degree.

sure you want to think bullshyte. but hey - are the pats really that good? they seem to have critical calls always go in their favor. if random luck of the draw fine, but that doesn't happen 100% of the time, does it?

and the steelers beating the seahawks in the superbowl...how many people felt there was something 'up' there? most of us did at the time.

we blow it off because we don't want to be paranoid but it does make you wonder.
