Actually, Canada's one of the most beautiful states I've ever visited. I was just piling on for fun.

Because a Canadian decided to ruin this thread by going on about some jinx theory of his. Leave it to a Canadian to ruin it for everybody.

Did you know that since the implementation of the current 12 team playoff structure in 1990, that the NFC #1 Seed has NEVER lost in the divisional round?

1990-1991: San Francisco 49ers 28 (#1), Washington Commanders 10 (#5)
1991-1992: Washington Commanders 24 (#1), Atlanta Falcons 7 (#6)
1992-1993: San Francisco 49ers 20 (#1), Washington Commanders 13 (#6)
1993-1994: Dallas Cowboys 27 (#1), Green Bay Packers 17 (#6)
1994-1995: San Francisco 49ers 44 (#1), Chicago Bears 15 (#6)
1995-1996: Dallas Cowboys 30 (#1), Philadelphia Eagles 11 (#4)
1996-1997: Green Bay Packers 35 (#1), San Francisco 49ers 14 (#4)
1997-1998: San Francisco 49ers 38 (#1), Minnesota Vikings 22 (#6)
1998-1999: Minnesota Vikings 41 (#1), Arizona Cardinals 21 (#6)
1999-2000: St. Louis Rams 49 (#1), Minnesota Vikings 37 (#4)
2000-2001: New York Giants 20 (#1), Philadelphia Eagles 10 (#4)
2001-2002: St. Louis Rams 45 (#1) , Green Bay Packers 17 (#4)
2002-2003: Philadelphia Eagles 20 (#1), Atlanta Falcons 6 (#6)
2003-2004: Philadelphia Eagles 20 (#1), Green Bay Packers 17 (#4) (OT)
2004-2005: Philadelphia Eagles 27 (#1), Minnesota Vikings 14 (#6)
2005-2006: Seattle Seahawks 20 (#1), Washington Commanders 10 (#6)
2006-2007: Chicago Bears 27 (#1), Seattle Seahawks 24 (#4) (OT)

NFC #1 Seed in Divisional Round Since 1990: 17-0
Average Points: NFC #1 Seed 30.3, Opponent 15.6
Average Margin of Victory: +14.7 points
actually what i found really fascinating about these stats is this:

the #6 seed has advanced to the divisional round 9 times.. so the #6 seed is 9-7 versus the #3 seed since this structure was created.. and this is only the 2nd time that a #1 seed will play a #5 seed in the NFC playoffs..

You have to remember that Canadian hates Americans.
Canada did not beat us in 1812. They beat back a couple of somewhat screwed up attempts to invade them. BUT then Canadian is not known for his ability to remember factual evidence. The war of 1812 was between us and the British- Canada was still part of the British Empire- so THEY did not beat anyone. The war of 1812 is viewed by history as a mistake of a war that ended with neither side winning.
The bit about the Alamo has never been really established with any kind of gnerally accepted result. There seems to be some evidence that some defenders were captured alive then executed. Whether Crockett was one of them is in serious dispute. Knowing crockett, once he was captured he would have tried to talk his way out of it- BUT capturing him would have been quite a feat since he was no pushover. The wearing womens clothing is a total fabrication.

The stats are interesting. But, they are only stas. They're no better or worse than reading tea leaves. Do they show trends? Yep, but they do not dictate who wins and loses. I feel confident that we win this game. But I am not such a homer to think we'll blow them out.

We lost the Alamo to a Mexican Army that began the campaign with 6,500 soldiers. There were less than 300 defenders in the Alamo, and it took Santa Anna 13 days to capture the fort.

Conversely, the Battle of San Jacinto, fought on April 21, 1836, was the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. Led by General Sam Houston, the Texas Army engaged and defeated General Antonio López de Santa Anna's Mexican forces in a fight that lasted just eighteen minutes. Hundreds of Mexican soldiers were killed or captured, while there were relatively few Texan casualties.

They scored first, but the Texans whooped their butts in the end.

And by the way, it was Santa Anna that was found cowering in a Corporal's uniform trying not to be captured. pWNED!!

Thanks.

What's peculiar is that in that same time span, the AFC #1 seed has only won 59% (10 for 17) of their divisional rounds. Go figure. For both conferences, the #2 seeds in each conference won 76% (13 for 17).

NFC Championship: NFC #1 seed has won 11 of 17.
