I know these comments have been mentioned before in general context, but thought the most recent quotes were a little interesting and on-the-mark.

Jerry Jones believes Darren McFadden can be a difference maker
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...es-darren-mcfadden-can-be-a-difference-maker/

“You worry about injury, but we were worried about injury with Murray. In eight seasons, four in Oklahoma and four with the Cowboys, Murray only had two injury free seasons. And so the position is one you have to take into consideration no matter what the skill level is, they take a lot of hits, lot of punishment, and you got a good chance to have an injury issue. And that’s why we couldn’t make that kind of commitment of dollars to that position.

The team’s position on not investing a lot of cash in an injury-prone position would also suggest that the Cowboys won’t make a play for Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. But Jones wouldn’t confirm that Peterson won’t be a Cowboy.

I get in enough trouble in a lot of areas anyway with this mouth but I’m not going to talk about that,” Jones said.

Jerry has been unbelievably honest as to intents, interests, feelins, and directions of his team. He has provided a non-biased fan with an arsenal of insights as well as types of decisions that have been the course of the Cowboys under Jerry.

Jerry is much more astute an observer and decision maker, that much of the media and even many Cowboys fans give him credit. He has boldly walked an honest journey at the head of the Cowboys, and I am glad that sees depth and potentials that can be directions for his team. For the journey alone, this fan has to give a hooah...but even wishful thinking can't create enough cash flow to procure both a future and Peterson now.

Because it would be tampering.

Does this mean that he is not interested in investing first or second round currency in an injury prone position?

I think this comment will look a bit hypocritical when they acquire Peterson and pay him right around the same $8 million that they refused to pay Murray.

And I expect the words "special" "unique" and "opportunity" to be used at that time.

I don't think it was overly interesting. Can't talk about Peterson as he is currently a Viking.

As far as DeMarco goes, the length of the Eagles contract was more worrisome for me. Obviously, they can cut him before the end of the contract, but that still goes into the cap hits and is dead money.

And DeMarco did surpass the 370+ carry mark. I tend to believe that in the day of modern medicine and training that a tailback could come back and have a strong season, but I would seriously worry about the years after that. Let's say DeMarco has a nice season and gains 1,200 yards for the Eagles, but then falls off the earth after 2015 and can't get over 1,000 yards rushing...that's a really bum deal for Eagles.

I think in the end of all of this, Jay Ratliff may end up being the MVP for this organization because I think he finally convinced Jerry that giving out those big contracts to veterans is often problematic and that we are better off getting the best coaching staff we can find and acquiring players thru the draft and UDFA and developing them at a cheaper price.

Could be because of tampering. Although, it could also be because they really like Peterson and want to go after him and Jerry knows they would have to pay a ton of money. Thus making what he just said sound like nonsense. I'm hoping it's the latter.

Not like he is going to come right out and say..by the time the team breaks for camp AP will be a cowboy. He was very coy with that statement could take it either way.

Good post. I have been critical of Jerry Jones, but one thing the man is and that is honest (relatively speaking with football being the context) - almost to a fault.

And he confirmed what I and others have been saying about Murray all along, though many Cowboys fans didn't want to acknowledge and even called you a "hater" when you mentioned it. Murray, as great a season as he had, was injury prone. That and other factors - including running backs being on the market and a deep draft class for running backs - led to Murray's departure.

Peterson has been relatively healthy in comparison to Murray. He has missed more than two games in a season as a starter only twice in seven years (not counting last year), and played in 15 or more in three of those seasons.

Murray has played in 10 or fewer games in 2 of his 4 seasons and has had only one season where he played in 15-plus games (last year). He actually has improved healthwise the past two seasons, though, so maybe he's learned to manage his body in the pros.

I could easily see Dallas spin it as Peterson has shown a pattern of health that makes the Cowboys confident he'll be able to live up to his contract.

Yeah, I think that's the key word involved when they essentially refute their previous statements.

The bolded parts are what I meant as "interesting", not the full quotes. I only posted the full quotes so everyone would have the full context of the partial quotes.

Scent of a Woman?

CCBoy used "hooah" in his post, which is Army slang that means anything but "no", but is most often used as a statement of strong agreement, and xvendetta corrected the term to "oorah" which is Marine Corps slang used to demonstrate motivation...just a little bit of good ol' interservice rivalry being demonstrated by xvendetta...and he's right...the Marine Corps is and always has been way superior to the Army. :D
