We'll go off on weak reams, but then cower as usual against any team that pushes back.
I will say this........no way in hell Jerry's going to pay Parsons $35-40M and let a DC turn him into an ordinary player. This is why I'm not too concerned about the D. Jerry will make damn sure it's top 10-15 min IMO coz his money is on the line. I guess we will see but he has a proven track record have a solid run defense.I’m not saying he didn’t have success as a DC, I’m just referring to their approaches. Eberflus like Garrett is a pretty basic scheme, just beat your man type of coordinator.
That can work in this league if you have great players, but was hoping for a DC that liked to play more aggressively with their blitz looks and let their DBs challenge receivers 1v1.
I just don’t think a heavy rush 4 with cover 2/3 behind it maximizes the better players on this defense. Maybe eberflus will surprise me and adapt to the strength of this defense, I’m just not very optimistic about it.
And he that with a Colts team that was lacking talent...sure he had Leanord, and Rhoads, but when he got Buckner things started to gel. Made Autry a pretty decent DE.
Odd take.....we are not asking to be a head coach like Garrett. His track record as DC is solid.
In his first season, the Colts went from No. 30 in scoring and total defense to Nos. 10 and 11, respectively. In three of his four seasons, the Colts had a top-10 scoring defense and twice they were top 10 in yards.5 hours ago

Eberflus began his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns as linebackers coach. He then spent seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys as a linebackers coach and passing game coordinator.
Later on, Eberflus served as the Colts’ defensive coordinator from 2018-2021. He inherited an Indy defense that ranked 30th in the NFL in scoring and total yards the previous season. During his first year, he helped the unit improve to 10th in scoring and 11th in yards.
Under Eberflus’ guidance, the Colts were the league’s only defense to rank in the top 10 in scoring, run defense, and takeaways in each of the 2020 and 2021 seasons. They also finished in the top 10 in run defense and takeaways in all four of his seasons with Indianapolis
Do you have any evidence he prefers light DTs? Or is he just associated with Marinelli and so you assume? This is the bend but dont break Marinelli scheme with small DTs
This scheme will ‘succeed’ against the bottom feeders but the top QBs and teams that run the ball well will kill us
Sound familiar?
Look good in regular season
Stink in playoffs
Sound familiar?
Chicago had pretty big guys at DT this year. I think he likes guys that can move and penetrate, size being a plus.Do you have any evidence he prefers light DTs? Or is he just associated with Marinelli and so you assume?
Yeah, my fear is that it won't be if Osa re-signs because he'll be getting starter DT money.I wonder if he will target a high level safety and linebacker early on? I still think DT remains the biggest defensive need even if Osa resigns.

We have terrible depth even with OSA. If we e are moving back to a bend don’t break scheme, we are going to need a deep rotationYeah, my fear is that it won't be if Osa re-signs because he'll be getting starter DT money.
I'd like to see us re-sign Odighizuwa and bring in two early DT picks instead of digging in the garbage bin for rotation players. Let the young guys sort out with the veterans (Osa and Mazi) who gets the inside snaps.
