Interesting scenario for the final three weeks

The Giants play Minnesota at noon next week. Should they lose, Dallas will essentially be locked into the 5 seed prior to kickoff of their game against Philadelphia. Assuming Philly doesn’t lose out, which is far enough from the realm of possibility for us to ignore it for the sake of this discussion, Dallas would be a playoff team with effectively nothing to play for over the final three weeks.

Im reasonably confident that has never occurred in NFL history, and 100% certain it’s never been the case for a wild card team.

they should rest and sit out, last 3 are all meaningless

I find it so hilarious that we’re even entertaining such scenarios. Rest our starters or don’t. 5th seed or 7th seed. This team will falter in the WC round like it does every year. They’re already showing their preliminary near end season collapse and just so happened to get saved by the imploding Commanders. This WC blowout will be legendary and depression rates will surge.

Yes. They need to treat one of these final 3 games as a bye week for the starters...especially considering the Titans game will be TNF on a short week. I would rest everyone next Saturday...let them enjoy the Christmas weekend and recharge mentally. Then, play everyone at Tennessee as the final "real" game. At Washington, then you can do starters for one quarter or half.

It's late, so my math brain might not be working, but pretty sure you are wrong. Dallas currently has 10 wins, and NYG have 8. If NYG lose next week, they will still have 8 wins with 2 games left. If they win those final 2 games, they would finish 10-6-1. If the Cowboys sit on their hands and lose the next 3, they would finish 10-7, behind the NYG. That would mean going to SF in the Wild Card round. No thank you, let's just beat the Eagles instead.

3 more straight losses in the regular season should properly condition us from the inevitable 1st round playoff loss.
Last year the loss was a bummer. This year it will be a relief that the season is over at last.
They would lose to every winning team they played last year. You shouldn’t have fooled yourself. I think this year should actually be reason to be more optimistic. They’ve beat the Bengals and Vikings.

Yeah we were worse off last year. If they can get back to playing actual defense, we can have hope again. Time to get in the old lab and cook up some changes. No LVE, maybe thrown in Cox, maybe move Bland to the outside. I dunno, figure it out Quinn.

I’m not sure this scenario is correct. I’ve plugged in the scenarios of the Cowboys losing out and the Giants losing to the Vikings, but winning the last 2, and Cowboys would be the 6 seed. Maybe I’m missing something.

Hell no. You can rest then against Tennessee. I want to beat the Eagles no matter if theirs nothing to play for I want to shut their stupid fans up.

If we win out and then win our WC game and then Philthy loses their Divisional game the week after, we get home field for the NFC Championship game if we make it there. The Vikings and 49ers are right behind us so we have something to play for. Do we want to play one of them on the road?

It's been a looong day so I might be mistaken here.

The one thing I have hope in is the running game. If they would have stuck with it just a little more this is a 12-2 team. They got pass happy in the 4th quarter vs GB and Jags. Ferguson being out was a blow today. He’s an excellent blocker. But the point is the running game is lightyears better this year than last.

I dont think it matters because we will be locked in at the 5 seed regardless.

Agreed, and it was the number one reason I knew we were screwed last year. We are still running strong. We just have a moron at OC.

Rest guys that need it the last two weeks. Reduce some snap counts.

Don’t have to go cold turkey, but being healthy in the playoffs is paramount.
Yeah the final two weeks is fine for all that need it. But it should be all hands on deck for Philly.
