Nfl been around for 100 years. I’m reasonably confident every scenario has happened before. It’s like when I watch baseball and some team scores give runs without a hit. Then you hear the announcers say, that’s only ever happened eight times in history! And you be like, what?!?The Giants play Minnesota at noon next week. Should they lose, Dallas will essentially be locked into the 5 seed prior to kickoff of their game against Philadelphia. Assuming Philly doesn’t lose out, which is far enough from the realm of possibility for us to ignore it for the sake of this discussion, Dallas would be a playoff team with effectively nothing to play for over the final three weeks.
Im reasonably confident that has never occurred in NFL history, and 100% certain it’s never been the case for a wild card team.

That’s my thought. It’s our bye week at that point. Obj will be ready to go too for playoffsRest two weeks and then play last game to get everyone back in groove

This is one of many reasons I hate the 17 game season. It was an unnecessary money grab. And the Thurs night football games too. Injuries are killing multiple teams. Between the Jax game yesterday and the Thurs night Titans game, we will have played 3 games in 12 days. Just stupid if player safety means anything. The Giants play Minnesota at noon next week. Sadly, I think u are right. But he still gives us a chance when healthy. He's the best we have.
thats a HUGE concern with him.I agree but man seems like he takes at least a game or so to really get back into it. Rarely do we ever come out of a bye and play well.
they should rest and sit out, last 3 are all meaningless
thats a HUGE concern with him.
Rest the next 2 weeks then pretend that game 17 is playoff game 1...Can't wait to rest people then look rusty wild card weekend
Someone brought up the point that we looked awful the first game of the season and after the bye (and mini byes). This team can not go on with the mentality of resting playersCan't wait to rest people then look rusty wild card weekend
Cowboys wouldn't play the Eagles in that scenario. They'd be the #2 seed of what was left after the wild card round. They'd play the 6th seed (Giants) in Dallas. Washington would go to Philly. The higher seeded team remaining as the playoffs advance gets homefield advantage for the conference championship. The 6th and 7th seeded teams (currently the Giants and Commanders) would have to knock out 3rd seed 49ers and 2nd seed Vikings, respectively, for the title game to be held at AT&T Stadium --after the 5th seed Cowboys beat the NFC South winner, then top-seeded Eagles in the divisional round.
Kevinicus, you are correct. I overooked the fact that a 6th and /or 7th seed winning would move the 5th seed Cowboys up.Cowboys wouldn't play the Eagles in that scenario.
