Jesse hated the trade.
Nate Newton liked the trade.

But they both agreed on the following.

This wasn’t really about money.
Just today Nate Newton talked about the Cowboys front office, Jerry and Stephen, and he said, regarding the front office talking contract with the player, the same thing goes on with every team in the NFL. Both Nate and Jesse Holly testified to that and a bit more.

(Paraphrase from Nate) 100% guarantee…if a player tells Jerry or Stephen he isn’t comfortable talking contract and wants them to deal with the agent, they immediately have the player leave the office, and they negotiate with the agent only. Nate said he’s seen it and experienced it many times. But if the player and Jerry start talking about money or years or what they want, Jerry and Stephen will hash it all out with the player and when the player is happy, they meet with the agent and make sure the wording is right for the player.

Nate went on to say Parsons wants to be liked. Despite the Lion talk, he’s not a guy who stands alone but a guy who loves to be accepted and part of the group. Parsons loved hanging out with Jerry and talking football, life, etc. So Nate’s take is that Parsons probably enjoyed talking about the contract and was happy with it….until the agent said, “we can get more.” And when Micah and his agent wanted to start negotiations where Jerry and Micah left off, that was the beginning of the end with Jerry. Then as things went into a holdout, a trade request, and bad back talk to get paid without doing anything, it was over.

Both Nate and Jesse agreed on one big thing….if Jerry decides he cannot trust you, that’s the end.
More and more information is coming out, but it won’t change anyone’s mind if he hates or loves the trade. These players on The Players Lounge just explained from actual experience how the front office deals with players. We all hate to lose a great pass rusher, but we also wondered how we would keep Pickens, Smith, and Bland. Now we know they can keep all three if they want to.
