Over the years here on CZ, we've tended to put certain players on a pedestal before they ever accomplished anything. I was thinking we should create a 22-man roster of the CZ Internet Hall of Fame. I'll give some of them a go (I can't think of a complete roster. I'm missing a few spots)

QB: Chad Hutchinson
RB: Tashard Choice
WR: Isiah Stanback
TE: John Phillips
LG: Kevin Kowalski
OC: Phil Costa
RG: David Arkin
RT: Jeremy Parnell
DE: Victor Butler
DT: Sean Lissemore
DT: Ben Bass
LB: Alex Albright
LB: Devonte Holloman
CB: BW Webb
FS: Matt Johnson
SS: Akwasi-Owusu Ansah

Most of those guys got 1000x more criticism than praise.

I wouldn't but Holloman on there the dude played only a few games but we got to see the potential in the final game. All others I can agree with. You could add Tyson Thompson, Drew Henson, Pat Watkins, Justin (can't remember how to spell his last name). Woody Dantzler, Clint Steorner.

I thought you had come up with a way for CZ to do it's own HOF by using polls to vote in a starting roster and annually add to it the same way(This would probably need a separate forum but we have the great moderators and a great administrator to make it happen) but you burned my eyes out with sarcasm when I read the list. Thats more like kickin peoples old pets again for good measure.:D You got guys on there I haven't even give up on yet. lol

Yeah I agree I think Holloman is a very intriguing guy to watch this year. He's either a one game wonder or potentially an explosive pass rusher who could really impact the defense this year.

BTW -- interesting thread.

Deservedly so. AOA, Johnson Stanback were horrible picks. Jerry trying to show he's smarter than everyone else. Hollaman and Webb are coming off their rookies years, I'll give them a chance. Aside from Phillips I never thought much for the rest of the guys listed above.

I was inspired by all the talk about the impact Ben Bass will have on the D-line this season. He seems to be another one of those guys who a number of posters seem to have a lot of hope in. Kinda reminded me of how we felt about the potential of some other guys who never amounted to anything. A la the list.

And I guess I should mention, a good real-life player but a legendary trade piece: Dexter Coakley

AOA was probably worth a shot as a 4th round pick based on the possible upside. Once you get to area of the draft around the forth round you can't have interviewed all of the players and the interview is what was missing with him, IMO.

It's the reason that Stephen Jones said that they narrowed their draft board down a year or two ago from previous years of about 240 to 120 in recent years. You will skip on some good players using the smaller board, but you will have a much better feel for the players that you do take. The Cowboys seems to do well when they draft the guys that they have studied/interviewed in great detail.

I would think Leary had a shot to make this squad until he played this year...he was getting a lot of hype as an UDFA and then sat out making me wonder about him, but he certainly played well this past year (still has room for growth)

I've seen many threads/post talking about how other people are anointing Bass; however, I've seen very few if any that were actually anointing him.

I think carter coild be on the list.

He's tricky since he actually played at a high level for almost an entire season. The guys on this list never really broke into the lineup. Most of them were praised because of combine measureables, Youtube highlights, and preseason games.

Speaking of that, I forget that one guy everyone was praising 2 seasons ago. Forget his name. He had like 25 sacks in Division 1AA. We ended up cutting him and the Ravens picked him up. Anyway, people were salivating over the prospect of him and Ware being the most dynamic duo in the NFL.

I read your description, and immediately checked down the list looking for one name. That name is Akwasi-Owusu Ansah, and he was there. :D

I think Lance Dunbar qualifies for this list...

Oh come on let's not get carried away here...Dunbar looked good before his injury. Yeah a bit turnover prone at times, but he really adds another dimension to our run game, not to mention giving DM some time off
