The guys at Sideline Scouting have their 2 round mock up...

http://www.sidelinescouting.com/mock/

Cowboys take DE/DT Marcel Dareus in Round 1. OT Gabe Carimi in Round 2.

Personally, this would be ideal for me. Dallas needs to refocus on trench play after Jerry chasing "Wow" players post-Parcells. I think DL is one of the real under-rated needs on this team. 3 out of our top 4 defensive ends are free agents after the year, and the lone holdover Igor is a JAG and a Wade guy who the new coaching staff probably won't value very highly.

I agree. We are only average in the trenches and many of us (and you) have been saying this for a year or so. I don't know how someone can rave about how talented a team is when the trenches make up almost 1/2 of the starters and are mostly mediocre.

This isn't the most current draft order.

But if Carimi is there at the top of round 2 i'd do backflips over a Peterson + Carimi top 2.

Don't like the first round pick Marcel Dareus.

If Dallas plans continuing on with the 3-4, DE positions are not premium.

The team has gotten by very well (for the most part) with guys like Igor, Canty, and Spears.

There is no need to invest that high a pick on a player whose primary responsibility is to stop the run and anchor.

I just don't see Jerry being willing to coin up for the position.

Unless a N****akan Suh (sp?) is coming out, there isn't that type of player in this draft.

3-4 DEs can be addressed at other points in the draft.

All things being equal, I like Auburn's Nick Fairley better.

Is Marcel Dareus that good? Not is he worth a first round pick, but is he top 2 good?

Marcell Dareus*, DT, Alabama
Height: 6-3. Weight: 306.
Projected 40 Time: 4.90.
Projected Round (2011): Top 5 Pick.

I jump all over this draft - even tho we need a CB

I still take it

Marcel Dareus is that good.

Yep. He's taken a few games to round into shape after his suspension and a slight ankle problem, but he's been an absolute beast the last few weeks.

He's not Suh, who I think is the best college DL I've seen since Reggie White, but I think he's better than Gerald McCoy. And I like the fact that he can play in a variety of schemes, because I think there's a pretty good chance we're moving to the 4-3 next year.

I do think a lineman who can collapse the pocket is probably our biggest need on defense, more so than the secondary, but I'm just not to sure on this guy

What about Nick Fairley. At 6-5 300, he seems like a better fit in a 3-4 and he has more production this season (18 TFL and 7.5 sacks), only thing is there was no production from him last year.

I don't believe in spending that high a pick on a 3-4 DE.

It really depends on how much of a difference make they would be. If Ndamekong Suh was in this draft, would you not take him?

If we ran 4-3 absolutely.
