Is your gender purely physical or is it also mental? If he has the body of a man but always feels he is a woman, after the hormones he will take after his reassignment surgery, then he will be a female physically to match his mental belief.

Is your gender purely physical or is it also mental? If he has the body of a man but always feels he is a woman, after the hormones he will take after his reassignment surgery, then he will be a female physically to match his mental belief.

Not sure how much it really matters. It's a semantic argument. He's a person born to one gender who's using what means we have available to alter that gender because of how he feels. Gender and sexual identification are fairly complex issues. I know they get some people fairly invested in the definitions of what's what. For my part, I just feel sorry for people who are unhappy or confused enough to take drastic action to change their bodies. S/he had to know the kind of ridicule this opened him/her up to. It's a crazy amount of attention, and there's no getting away from it. You don't do that unless you're profoundly unhappy with yourself. For someone who's had the personal and profession success that Bruce Jenner has had, it's a shame that he's not more comfortable in his own skin, and I hope he's happy with the results. It'd be even worse to make a change like that and to regret it eventually.

we do have the power, at times nature is wrong. I have never felt I was a woman in any sense, but he did. I will never understand why Bruce felt like Caitlyn. However, to say it isn't a valid choice/decision is not correct. To him it is a valid choice/decision and who are we to say it isn't?

There is a disorder called Narcissism. Something I'd go out and say is much worse than having gender dysphoria.

Good for Bruce to make the switch. Be who you feel you truly are, as you only have one chance to live.

the real question is, why do you care? The preferred pronoun of a transgender individual really has no effect on your day to day life, so I always wonder why it bothers people so much.

the word fools does exist and defines a type of person. Changing your gender and deciding its ok to do so and agree with anyone who does is foolish.
