Yeah I hate Ratner quite a bit.
And I'd ask you guys why those movies were "bad"?
X-men 1 was Rather boring, and it changed a lot so I didn't love it, but the acting was just fine, the plot made sense for an Xmen plot. They destroyed some of the characters which upset me, but for what it was, not a bad movie.
X-men 2 came back with an R rating, totally action packed with scenes of bad assery abound. No serious problems with the plot or character development, acting was on par with what should be expected. Other then simply not enjoying a "Mutant super ability" themed movie, I don't know what was "bad" about it. I'd like to hear your comments. Hello, Magneto ripping someones blood out of their body for the iron in it. If you can get over the changes to the characters/storyline from the first movie, this movie was really well done. If you're a comic purist.. you probably won't like them at all =p
X-men 3.. Just ***. So many problems with the Plot, Character development was atrocious. They killed a main character.. OFF SCREEN, and only "Mentioned" it later. That's just bad story telling. They split so far off from the X-men world that it shouldn't even have been named X-men anymore. The entire movie was horribly rushed. Then the big cluster **** fight at the end, full of mutants who's only apperant powers are the ability to jump really high and fight like thugs, was just awful. I could go into far more detail of why this was a bad movie, but It'd take up a huge amount of space.
Spiderman 1 and 2 were basically the same movie. I enjoyed them both. The original spiderman comics were very cheesy, the movied emulated this. Again, they changed a few things, but some of it was understandable, and didn't really detract from the movie. The movies looked good, the plot made sense, the character development was fine (pushed the limits in Spiderman 2 though), and were overall enjoyable movies, lacking in plot holes and ****ty directing. The CGI in the movie was also greatly done.
Spiderman 3. They simply tried to fit way too much into the story and failed epicly. The character development was atrocious. They forced entire background/storylines into new characters with very little screen time. They played around with Spiderman's Dark Persona theme, for like 10 minutes, rushed it, and totally failed. They pulled the Jazz Flute scene straight out of Ron Burgandy, and stuck it in Spiderman, I was embarrassed during that scene, it was so out of place bad. Also, they destroyed Venom/Eddie Brock, his character was so bad and SO different from the comics that it made no sense.
Iron man? What wasn't to like. The plot made sense, the character development was great. There were no major storytelling flaws, it was well directed, and as true to the series as possible. They NAILED Tony Stark, his character was amazing as was Robert Downy.
Again, if you're not a fan of the comics, not a fan of super hero-esque themes, I can understand why you didn't like them, but most of them did not suffer the Plotline/character development/acting problems that most ****ty movies suffer from.
