Ir's sickening to see the fanbase tonight

I'm not going to rip on Austin like some of the posters in here but he really could have laid out for it like a few of you guys have mentioned. The fact that he didn't with the game on the line is truly disappointing.

We were winning already, and he may not have seen it until it was too late. Too many variables and things that could have happened that we don't know on the play to be disappointed, but it sure looked like it was just overthrown and Tony didn't put enough air under it. Disppointing either way, but i don't think Miles was halfassing it at all.

Believe me, I'm no fan of Jerry. But Jerry didnt play defense tonight.

Actually starting to feel bad for Jerry, he has stayed away and mostly turned things over to the coaching staff. This team has let him and fans down, again in epic fashion.

You'll have to forgive any spelling errors, I've been drinking at a record pace for the past two hurs...

Tonight has proven that we have the most mindless fanbase in football. Yes, tonight sucked. I'd go so far as to say I've never been this upset. I'm not denying this was an epic collapse, because it it was. It was pathetic...in fact, beyond pathetic, I was historical. I've been as big a Jason Garrett basher as there is, and Romo and the offense have not escaped my wrath either. Every part of this team has sucked at one time or another.

However, those blaming Romo, Garrett or Ware tonight are pathetic and don't know footbnall. Period. Romo played great, had a 141 QB rating. Ware had SIX QB pressures, the most in the NFL today. Garrett called a great game offensively. The vast majority of the anger is misdirected tonight. This game falls squarely on Rob Ryan, the one guy I havent ripped on this year. His defense didnt show up in the clutch. It choked in epic fashion and may have just cost us our season. The offense gave us a 12 point lead with 5 minutes to play, we have NEVER lost a game like that in our history...and yet we did tonight.

So, be mad. Be irate. Be so angry it makes you put a fist through the wall. However, please don't direct your anger at the wrong people because its the cool thing to do.

I usually don't like to quote long posts but I had to co-sign on this. I knew in this forum people would talk about the offense being the problem. Heck, that's all you saw last week. The problem has always been the defense. They've never stopped anyone. They never stop the short pass out of the backfield. They never deflect the pass. They are never near bobbled passes to get an easy INT. They never get a push up the middle. They never re-route the receivers, the safties are never in the picture frame on long passes.... etc., etc.

I'm not interested in reading or hearing any comments about the offense.

Here's the thing though...

When you ask superstars to make every play, you will lose. This is the ultimate tam sport. Even Brady and Rodgers don't play perfect. Romo played amazing football, but he makes one mistakes that shouldnt have even matterd and hes a choker. Why is it on him instead of the defense? Why is it on Ware instead of the rest of the defense?

If Newman doesnt drop that pick 6, we win. If Free doesnt miss that block, we win. If Church doesnt blow that coverage, we win. If Bailey doesnt miss that kick, we win.

But no, we only focus on Romo ad Ware and Garrett. And this is coming from a guy who has ripped them endlessly.

Fair enough.

I guess I'm reacting - maybe overreacting - to the comments here about Romo being great and Ware being great as if they're the elite among the elite. Don't get me wrong. I think they are great players, but I guess I'm befuddled how a team like the Broncos (and I don't know how long they can keep it going) less talented than the Cowboys and with a quarterback who is no where near Romo's abilities and a rookie linebacker who is very good but no where near DeMarcus Ware's level can find a way to win, and the Cowboys find ways to lose.

I guess I get tired of stats being tossed around as if they're more important winning.

It almost seems we're all about collecting stats but not about collecting wins.

I guess I'm looking for that one extra play to deliver a win rather than looking for solace in a good effort that falls short at the end.

Maybe it's my frustration.

When an offense scores 34 points it really should be enough to win a game.

You're correct. But when it's not, there has to be that something extra that delivers the victory. We can't merely say, "Well, we scored 34. We've done our job." If necessary, we need to score 38. We didn't. It seems like we give great effort, amass great stats, but we just can't sustain winning. :(

Exactly. No one cares about the stats at the end of the year. The only thing that really matters is what's in the W-L column. Having the stats should be the bonus, not the prize.

Sometimes I think we lose sight of that.

the defense can't hold a lead...

the offense can't run out the clock...

5pt lead with 3:14 and they go 3 & Out. 10yds..they could not manage 10yds at that point. THAT is when an offense has to be its most effective. IT doesn't matter what it's done the rest of the game. It doesn't matter what the QB's passer rating is prior to that drive... THAT drive defines them. THey can't rely on the defense...but also can't rely on the offense to get the critical 20-30yds (if that) needed to run out the clock either.

Well put. I, however, remain firm in my argument that too many cowards are on this team and in the fan base.

What the heck is that supposed to mean? What do cowardly fans have to do with anything relative to the play on the field?

****Edit.. I just re-read your post and I think I see what you mean.

The defense was absolutely hot garbage down the stretch.

There was never a single point in the final six minutes where I felt like they'd make a play.

I kept hoping Manning would make a mistake. :bang2:
