this morning with sid rosenberg. I loved the fact that irvin ripped parcells for bringing ex-giants players like jim burt and leonard marshall on the sidelines while never once reaching out to the ex-cowboys. He applauded wade for trying to bring back the family atmosphere to the cowboys.

Irvin is his usual happy go lucky self. Plenty of laughing, can't wait until the hall of fame inductions take place.

Irvin doesn't like Parcells because of TO. Irvin is very loyal when it comes to things personal to him. (Cowboys, Friend, etc)

Why would BP bring in ex players he had no experience with? The former Cowboys wouldn't know anything about his defense.

I think Emmitt could have been a big boost to guys like JJ, or barber.

Heck Irvin could have helped Owens, hurd, etc

I think Irvin and Emmitt would have been too much of a distraction with all the media coverage plus they had other jobs to deal with also.....you know like TV. :D

Yes, but I've always had the feeling that Parcells really didn't care much for any of the former Cowboys from the 90's (even Emmitt and Troy) and those guys resented him for it.

It's hard for me to disagree with either side. For Parcells he may have felt that many of the former Cowboys players could be a bad influence or guys that could be looked up to on how not to do things (we won SB's, but it was because of talent and not because we were some great disciplined team). Also there's always that scare of current players resenting the former players and thinking no matter how well they do, it won't hold up to the 90's dynasty.

For guys like Irvin, I'm sure they felt unappreciated given what they've given for the team and were not given the complimentary call back to talk to the team.

For 2 years I thought I heard LT was going to come in and work with Ware at LB, didn't seem to happen.

Keep in mind that BP also took Mike's job at ESPN.

Really--I did not like the old giants on the field with my COWBOYS either.

I think Irvin, as was mentioned, probably is not happy BP took his place on ESPN either.

Nate Newton was saying the same type things on 103.3 yesterday -- that he wished he could have tried to share his experiences with the younger players, but he and a lot of the former players never felt welcome when Parcells was there.

BP ran Emmitt out of town. Why would he bring him back around the team?

I don't think he "ran" Emmitt out of town, I believe Jerry simply wanted to get a look Hambrick but I don't think he was exactly persuading him to keep 22 around either...

It was BP's decision to let him go.
