Intentionally or accidentally, I think Mike's defense of TO has taken on a wider context than just personal friendship.

He's now the sole media 'labor' voice in a clear management win.

This won't hurt Mike one bit amongst the rank and file..even the players who loathe TO will put themselves in his shoes, and ESPN comes off as 'fairer' than some other media outlets simply for hosting the Irvin takes.

Some fans might be disgusted with Michael's views on this..but I suspect many players are toasting him for them.
Really good take on this.

Man, there are indefensible positions and TO has painted himself into one of these vorners. Theres a time where you have to stand up and say to your friend. "You lost it dude, your going over the edge. Time to wake up and admit you were wrong and right this ship right now."

Till someone stands up to TO and says this, he will contiunue to pull his charades, knowing someone will have his back. He will also never have a true friend till someone steps up and tells him hes wrong. TO your so damn wrong on every side of the coin here. You cant win this battle at all anymore. Apoligize, pray for forgiveness, fire your agent and sign a short incentive laden contract with a team that will let you start showing your new self. Dont blow it, this could well be your very last chance. Even Steve Howe ran out of chances, you will too.

Personally I hope he talks and misbehaves his way out of the league. I cant stand the guy and wish nothing be the worst for him and his team (even if that be the COwboys, but I hope not, please god, NO.) and his family (obviously they never stood up to him as he was growing up, 1 good *** spanking by his father would have done a world of good for young TO).
In defense of Michael Irvin, I believe he has done this. He said that he himself would never question his QB and that on that issue TO is dead wrong.

Saying I would never do that, and telling another dude that hes wrong for doing that are two different things.

Okay, 2 different things, and Michael did both.

#1 An indefensable position in my opinion is "wish nothing be the worst for him and his team (even if that be the COwboys,"

#2 TO did not have a father growing up, so show some compassion.
If you had a father growing up, ... give thanks.

No you just don't get it. You are not in the NFL, you only see the interviews, how people play, etc. Irvin knows TO personally. Hell, they have probally hung out together and call each other. He knows what the real TO is like, not the TO we see on the field.

The character police went overboard on T.O. Irvin is mounting a consistent defense against what has been over-the-top anti-T.O. hysteria. It'll pass.

Mike is still and always be one of my favorite cowboys. He is the Cowboys biggest cheerleader and he is always talking about how great the Dallas Cowboys are.

Mike only backs T.O. because Owens is one of the best receivers in the NFL and Mike is always going to back a person with that type of resume playing that particular position.

I would let my kid (if I had some) meet and get some advice from Mike Irvin anyday of the week. A guy that has been around the block and to my knowledge has regained his pride and self-respect again.

Former Cowboys receiver Irvin arrested Click here to find out more!
NFL.com wire reports

PLANO, Texas (Nov. 27, 2005) -- Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched his vehicle during a traffic stop, Plano police said.

Irvin, a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for speeding in Irving after being pulled over Nov. 25 for speeding in Plano, the Plano Police Department said. Police spokesman Mike Johnson said he didn't know what kind of paraphernalia was found.

Irvin paid a fine on the speeding ticket and posted bond on the drug paraphernalia possession charge. He was released about an hour after he was pulled over.

Irvin, a member of three Super Bowl championship teams with the Cowboys, retired in July 2000 and works as a studio analyst for ESPN.

An ESPN spokesman had no immediate comment.

In 1996, Irvin pleaded no contest to felony cocaine possession in exchange for four years of deferred probation, a $10,000 fine and dismissal of misdemeanor marijuana possession charges.

Irvin holds Cowboys records for catches (750), receiving yards (11,904) and 100-yard games (47), including a team-record seven in a row in 1991.

Mike is and always has been an idiot!
