Irvin's Radio Show

Any one here ever listen to it? I have started being able to listen to it almost every day for an hour for the past couple of weeks as I am driving...and I have to say, IMO, it is not good. Irvin always takes these ridiculous stances and then uses word games to play around on pretty clear statements made by his co-host. He also tend to over talk his co-host, (who is remarkably patient with it) and never can agree with anything he says, no matter what. I have heard Irvin give a few good insights but most of the time he is just blabering on about some pointless argument (ie. today he wanted to argue that America was not free)...any way I was just curious if y'all listened to it and what you thought about the show and Irvin on the show in general?

Its not that great and its not that bad.

I think if Big Nate and Irvin starred that show it would be better.

Either way he gets some amazing interviews.

The Irvin show is what it is, Sports Talk Radio. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's ok, sometimes it's dreadful. It ain't easy going live for three hours daily and always coming up with radio gold.

I have branded him Quitter (Q) until he redeems himself or at least stops being an idiot...(or until I find a better pic). Similar to the whole scarlet letter incident, just with a "Q" instead of an "A".

I wonder what the ratings for that show are. Personally, I can't stand listening to Irvin, just like I couldn't stand him on TV.

The dynamic of the show is irvin's interactions with his co-host and it is quite purposeful that they never agree, thats the whole point.


9 times out of 10 kevin takes a stupid stance and spends most of the show getting ripped by both irvin and the callers, it works for me.

I disagree 100%. Every show I have listened to Irvin has taken this ridiculously outlandish stance (again, this morning he said America was not a free country and he was serious). The other day it was Irvin saying the NASCAR lady should get $225m dollars (they talked about it for over an hour...had nothing to do with sports...dumb)...those are the two most recent ones but its always Irvin with the ridiculous ideas. My problem with it is Irvin just seems to say the crazy thing to be different and appear to be a separate thinker or something....he also comes off as he just likes to argue rather than make any good points.

I love the show, it is a great show. Irvin gets to the heart of the problems with his guests and it seems the two topics you used as an example were very good ones as well.

I love my country, and I have been in the military for 22 and a half yrs now and counting, but I will admit that Irvin has a point.

I love it. He speaks from the heart and never sugarcoats anything. I hear the show is doing great as far as ratings also. Loved him on TV and glad to know he's making more money with his own show.

Irvin isn't the first radio host to stray away from sports topics but whatever.

I hate to say this, but Irvin is a worse version of Stephen A Smith. He's boisterous but he doesn't come across as if he knows what he's talking about, which at the very least Smith does from time to time. So you've got the loud factor without the smart factor.

With these radio hosts, I typically ask myself one of two questions... would he be on the radio if he weren't a famous former player and a HOFer, and is he coming across with fresh ideas that make me go, "huh, that's right."

Irvin delivers on neither category. Just like on ESPN, he's a weak host with little insight aside from being a petty sideshow act.
