Is a 3rd Eagles versus Cowboys NFC Championship Game Possible?

Here's what one Cowboys fan had to say ...

"... it would be the Game of all Games. An Eagles-Cowboys NFC Championship game would receive more hype in this town than the Superbowl. It would be bigger than big."

I didn't think it was possible for two NFC-East teams to compete in the coveted NFC Championship (but I've been wrong before).

If it were possible ...

- Any Given Sunday ...either team could win

- Were the Eagles lucky to beat the Cowboys ...twice; with two different
quarterbacks?!

- Would it be the first time in NFL history?

Would it really be a bigger game than the Superbowl as the Cowboy fan quote indicates above?

What's your gut call ...

I don't think a rematch would be bigger than the SB but a trip to the NFC championship game in my mind would be a big step for this team win or lose given how we have been down over the last few years.

As for 2 NFC East teams facing off in the championship game, it has been done many times before

He meant bigger for Eagles' fans. Like I said in a previous post, you've been out of the area too long. As the Eagles' fans here are fond of saying, they'd be happy to go 2-14 if both of their wins were against the Cowboys.

I think it would truly be a special season if we could beat the Eagles in the Championship game to go to the Superbowl. But for Cowboys fans? No way, the Superbowl is the biggest game.

That's very interesting. It would be a 1st for our two teams. What a dog-fight that would be ...

Of course it's possible.. it just depends on seeding going in.

If you dont think it's happened before with our 2 teams, think 1980.

There, that just brightened your day, didnt it.

You are correct, it is not possible. It has never been possible. The 1980 NFC championship game never happened. It was only a nightmare of mine.

We suck in the division and you suck outside of it, this could be interesting so long as non NFC East opponents face Dallas.

Chicago and New Orleans seems almost inevitable, Bizarro world.

The grammar **** screwed his title up. I think the "3rd" is a reference to it being the third game played between the teams this year.

I don’t know if i could handle a third loss to the Eagles. I’d much rather take my chances with Seattle and Chicago.

It is not possible I tell you. The Eagles beat the Bears in the 1980 NFC championship game, or was it the Vikings?

In 1980? It was the first of three straight Cowboy NFC Championship debacles.

Shhh, I'm trying to convince PT that it never happened.
