Is Barber the new RW31?

He's not 100%, hasn't been all year. 26 year old backs just don't fall off and lose their burst like that.

if he's hurt, why is he still playing?

I know he hates to be taken out, but he's just being selfish

he's hurting the team

that's up to te coaches to correct, scale down his carries, use him situationally, etc. Just have a hard time seeing Barber ever admitting he's hurt or asking to be taken out - especially after Jerry called him out last year, essentially questioning our toughest players' toughness.

This is ludacris as far as Barber's concerned... He is the "starter" but who in their right mind believes that the 13.83 carries a game he avgs. is too many? He used to get that in the fourth quarter alone! How does that ruin him?

The difference as I see it, is that we haven't been winning the close games in the fourth quarter... we've been playing catch up instead. Who closed out the Philly game running the ball...? that was really the only game in which we had the chance to run out the clock... He never did get a ton of yardage early in the game, but we were winning alot of close games in the fourth quarter and he'd get 10 straight carries and destroy the defense, but when has he had that chance this season?

Actually I am surprised that I have to explain it to you. Its pretty obvious.

Barber and lets says 14 carries against a defense that is a little tired vs Barber starting against a fresh legs defense.

Pretty easy to understand... not ludicrous at all.

then Barber needs to tell the coaches

Every time Barber breaks one for 5 or 6 yards it makes you wonder if it had been in Felix or Choice's hands would that have been 20 or 30 yards and maybe even a TD???

I mentioned before that I think that is part of his issue. He gets dinged up and instead of staying out long enough to let it heal properly he rushes back and lets it linger a lot longer cause he keeps playing on injuries.

Its only one of the issues i think are hindering him but I do believe it's an important one.

I'm officially on the give Choice/Felix more touches+ make Barber a closer bandwagon.

I loved some Marion Barber, but I'm on that bandwagon too. He was at his best when he was able to drop the hammer in the 4th quarter, and his carries/stats were virtually the same or better.

Barbers my boy but it is obvious his carries need to be saved for later in ball games.

Get our explosive players in the game early and try to build a lead that way.

Its so obvious what needs to be done but it wont happen.

They dont even have to start Choice or Felix. Just let them get the signifcant role that Julius got.

People forget but Barber was a big part of that 13-3 in 2007. He is the heart beat of this team. He is our fist. But he isn't being used like he should and its obvious.

Barber's averaging a full .6 yards/carry more than last year. It's less than his '07 season when he was coming off the bench. Not many backs average more as starters than they do in relief. The bigger number has been his fumbles lost the last two years.

Either way, a 4.3 average while hobbled by a quad injury for 5 weeks is hardly a sign that he's falling apart. We've got short-yardage problems with our OL, but I don't see much reason to think the problem is both OL and RBs at this point.

Your original post implied that Barber was ineffective because he was the "starter" and was getting too many carries. It in no way implied that his carries were not coming at the right time of the game...

He is still averaging 4.25 ypc in the first quarter... That is not as bad as most people would have you believe. There are definitely worse RB's out there. Not to mention still avg. 6.00 ypc in the fourth...

With 14 seconds left? Wow, just wow...

Did we punt?

Did they get the ball back?

I guess you weren't a fan when the Skins scored twice in the last two minutes to beat us in a game we dominated.

Dude, don't ***** or smooth things over just to make your point, .. all I said was the facts.

IMO Barber is not the only problem. He has taken a lot of hits and that will always shorten a RBs career, but the main problem is the OL. We have the oldest OL in th league, Adams is a joke. IMO, in the past few years, the OL has always faded away in the last games of the season.

Did we punt to Carolina when we got the ball with 2:09 left? No MBIII ran for 11 yds and a first down before the two minute warning to ensure we could take a knee for the win...

Or how about in Tampa, 6 rushes 33yds and a TD in the final 7:38 to seal the victory there.

Or against Philly? 3 rushes for 23yds with 3:33 on the clock? Icing that victory as well...

So three wins in which he has iced the game late, compared to one game when he didn't, only because Washington had a timeout left.

I was a fan when they scored twice in the final two minutes of the game. And we've had games like that too, but there is a big difference between :14 and 2:00...
