I'd like to see him run routes further down field. He had one of the lowest yards per reception in the league last year.

People look at his stats compared to guys like Eldeman and what Welker got and think he is underutilized. But what they arent realize is that our offense doesnt feature the slot like NE's. Those guys are a product of the system. In our offense the most a slot can be expected to get is 50 catches or so.

Beasley IMO was smart to stay here as opposed to going to NE for many more catches, many more concussions and many few years

Edelman is their Number 1 WR. Beasley is 3rd at best.

Both are slot WR, Pats have no top WR outside of Edelman in the slot which is considered the #3 position not who gets the most balls thrown to them. In NE offense the slot WR is very much involved as Welker was before Edelman took over.

So you believe in Chip Kelly's system then? Fantasy scheme and underwhelming talent.

We'll find out if Chip is an idiot or a genius, but this isn't about Chip.

I actually do think the Eagles are going to do pretty well offensively, but I'm certainly pro "systems", rather than relying on Player X to simple be overwhelmingly better than whomever he's lined up against.

I wish the offense did more to get receivers open and runners into space, but I love that we value the OL, feature a power running game and throw the ball down the field.

Agreed, but the valuing of OL and the running game is definitely a new development. I'm happy we've finally decided to beef up both trenches, I really do think that's where consistency comes from.

Just because he plays the slot does not mean he's third on the depth chart. He's their number 1 wide receiver. After gronk, Edelman is next in line for targets. Beasley has to compete with Bryant, Witten, and TWill on a team that likes to run. Unlike the pats.

He had only 37 receptions last year. Two less than the year before. Yet on many plays he seemed open.

I know there are only so many balls to go around plus Witten gets a lot of the catches. Still his type of player really gives defenses fits and can extend plays. I hope they try to get him more involved this year.

I find the Thead title a bit funny. Two years ago the majority of posters wanted Beas cut in training camp. Too small, too slow, can't play special teams Beasly is now underused. :))

It has nothing to do with depth chart 1, 2,3 WR is the same as X,Y and Z WR the slot is the 3rd WR spot. It has nothing to do with who gets the ball thrown more times

I think he's going to get more catches this year. However, Beasley isn't all that fast. I recall certain plays where he appeared to be open, but the angle the defender had on him, he wouldn't have made the first down. I think Romo takes that into consideration also.
Be that as it may, I'm not too worried about Beasley's touches. He'll play his part and do a nice job at it. We have a lot of weapons. We know Dez is going to get his, Witten his, T Williams, his and McFadden his in terms of receiving yards out of the back field. Then we have to factor in the running game. There are only so many plays, and I don't want us turning back into a pass-happy team.

You watched the pats go to the Edelman well a lot last night. Didn't you? Lol

I don't think Edelman can do that all season.
It's like they are using him as a pseudo running back at 9 yards per clip

Yep. It's okay to do that at the beginning of the year. By the end of the year, Edelman will be too beat up.
But that dag gone Tom Brady. I want to dislike him so, and I think he's a cheat. But he's so dang good and does it with no-name receivers.

Sure he's being under utilized... Romo hasn't thrown him one pass this regular season.

Can we let the season begin and see for our own eyes how Beasley is being utilized before critiquing the manner in which it's done?

Also keep in mind there is only one ball on the field. Part of the trouble with defending against Beasley should always be not knowing when he will get the ball. This is more easily achieved by not over utilizing him. Defenses already know how dangerous he can be but they can't key up on all our dangerous players every play. By spreading the ball around, we keep the defense honest and maximize all our playmakers chances for success... including the Beas.

Our top playmakers get the ball first. However, defenses now know they can't let #11 run loose. It's not a problem. It helps when defenses have to account for so many different weapons.

Very true on both counts.
