Is Brian Schottenhiemer willing to be great?

Is Brian Schottenhiemer willing to stand up to Jerry and make the change that will probably be needed this season?
I get that it's his turn to turn Dak Prescott into a winner. If Schottenheimer is for real, he knows this is his test. Assuming he is for real, I imagine that he believes that he can coach Dak and make him into the elite quarterback he has been paid to be for the past four years, but hasn't.
He probably feels that he can instill the traits into Dak that others have failed at. Any real coach would want to believe that he could. He probably thinks he can turn up the pressure and discipline on Dak during camp and end his tendency to choke under pressure when the game gets too big. It's what I would do if I was saddled with Dak as a quarterback. I would put him in very uncomfortable game type situations and demand that he step up and perform. I would ride him to the point that he dreaded hearing my voice, trying to instill discipline that would not allow him to give way to fear.
But will Jerry allow it?
And if that fails, as it likely will, is Schottenheimer willing to make a stand against Jerry and replace him?
That is the test that Schottenheimer faces.
His legacy and the success of the Cowboys hinges on how this one battle is decided.
How would you go about replacing him? Dak is a much better QB than many fans think.

IF he doesn't assert himself at some point, the Cowboys could go 0-17. They might, anyway.
If so, his tenure as Cowboys head coach will likely his final tenure anywhere as a coach.
He surely knows this, so I would hope he has a semblance of a plan.
Geez, 0-17, you really think we are that much worse than last years team?

I think, no matter what they say to the media, the rest of the Cowboys know that Dak cannot win tough games.
They had already quit on him last year.
Imagine what this year could be like with a new coach.
If they lose a lot early, I could see a major collapse coming.

What makes you think it could end differently than it did for Gailey, Campo, Parcells, Phillips, Garrett and McCarthy? You are asking No-Schott to accomplish something none of them was able to do, overcome Jerry.

You may be right.
You'd think knowing the history he might want to be better.

Nevermind.

It seems pretty obvious that, so far, Schotty has managed to get Jerry on his side by being hired. That's hurdle number one. The next one will be to win several games to convince JJ that he's OK. Once he's managed that, things should be working out, at least for the time being if nothing else. Let's see if that friendship continues into the latter stages of the season and if so, to what extent. It's a tightrope walk.

There's no doubt that things may eventually lead to better things, or somewhat less continuity. Both Brian and Jerry will be tested to either maintain their good feelings. If so, just how long might it last?

Brian, of course, is likely to do whatever it takes to be on Jerry's good side, or relegated to the long list of previous coaches who couldn't manage that task. Such miracles aren't easily achieved. I'll wish him well. Others have tried and eventually failed. Let's wish Schotty luck and may the wind be at his back.

Another post with the premise that, if you sit/get rid of Dak, all will be well. Thank goodness there are people out there that a) played the game and/or b) may have been scouts, personnel guys, etc…that know that Dak is nor has been THE ONLY reason this team hasn’t excelled since 2016 (or, since 1995). Now, if we are only referring to the playoffs, then the conversation is valid. But, in any year that Dak has played more than 12 games, Dallas has NEVER had a losing record - so why would they go 0-17 now? And, once again, if Cooper Rush is SOOOO MUCH BETTER than Dak, why has no other team in a QB starved league given him starter $$$? And, let me guess, the comeback for Dak led (for more than 12 games) teams never having a losing record will be the D or the run game or something to that effect…I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again - Dak has NEVER been worth either contract he signed. He’s always needed help (as do most QB’s NOT named Mahomes or Allen), but this obsession of blaming everything on him while simultaneously saying if you don’t agree with that take that you’re a DakStan becomes more comical by the day (especially since almost everyone on here has admitted he’s NOT worth Top $$$).

In the final analysis, it's the team that counts . It's not about any one man. It's not about Schotty, not about Dak and even, not about Jerry, or Stephen. Being a fan is all about pulling for the team. ;)

Considering the team as a whole is what fans are supposed to be all about, namely, the Cowboys!

Let's not allow one, two or three guys spoil it for us as fans. It's the team that matters most. Let's just keep it real as fans and not permit a few people to rule our heads. It's the team that counts.
Being a fan really matters, folks! Go, Cowboys!

#Shotty is a career back bencher. Due to nepotism he was anointed a coaching star only to suck at every stop. Now at 50ish he gets his first crack at head coaching because our drunken old codger needs a yes man. No other team would even consider #Shotty a HC candidate. There is ZERO chance he will be anything other than a pandering lap dog for Jerry and his fatso Nepo baby.

For the love of God stop getting sucked.
I couldn't agree more. Schotty isn't the guy who's going to come into Dallas and make anything better. We're just going to get more of the same......only worse, because I don't even think he's as good as Big Mac.

It sucks, man. Just feels like more years of our fandom wasted. But what can you do? We're stuck.
