Is Cooper better than Dez?

Dez is a free agent by choice initially. The Ravens made him a very good offer.

After that, his antics and obsession with getting back at the Cowboys has cost him a position on a team.

Who wants a guy who constantly whines about sticking it to his former team rather than talking about doing his best for a new organization?

Even with all that the Browns still offered him a shot.
I think all that played a part early on... but we are approaching the half way mark of the season and he’s still jobless. The Pats are taking a chance on a guy who’s pretty much on his last straw with the NFL over Dez.

The production for the price, there's no way!

That’s fine..

But the situation is the cause of the production and we just gave a first rounder for another guy who we will say sucks in no time because of this situation.

Cutting Dez and chasing Sammy Watkins for 16M per year shows this is an organization ran by guys too insecure to be challenged.

I have to wonder if Dak didn’t have some part in getting Dez cut.
Getting Sammy wouldve saved us a 1st round pick

Consider the source, many of the people who will answer said we’d replace Dez with a “route runner” and would be just fine...
Cooper’s 2017 and projected 2018 stats look a lot like a down year Dez who forgot how to catch touchdowns, do with that what you will...

It’s worse than Dez, because at least Dez had the excuse of a scrub QB. Look at how many yards the WRs crew of Crabtree and Cooper were leaving. These numbers look pretty absurd.

The Raiders drops haven’t been little insignificant ones either. They also lead the league by far with 380 air yards left on the field. That’s nearly 11 yards per drop or the equivalent of 35 first down throws. Oh, what this team could have done with another 35 first downs. Currently their 22nd in the NFL, averaging 18.5 first downs per game. Add 35 first downs and they’d be tied for 6th in the league with 21.2 first downs per game.

The worst culprit is Amari Cooper who had 7 drops in the first four games and 10 drops by midseason, which still leads the league. Since then he’s seen just 17 passes with 8 catches and no drops, and may not see another pass this season due to his ankle injury.

Kid's a 2 time pro bowler at 24.

The Raiders had a lot of issues on that team causing their offensive woes the last 2 seasons. People pinning all that on drops by Cooper are cherry picking.

No...he’s not.

But then Jerry’s ego won’t allow him to admit he mighta made a mistake letting Dez go.

Granted, Bryant wasn’t worth the @$12mil per that Jerry himself gave him a contract for, but then Dez woulda likely taken a reasonable cut to have stayed here. But Jones didn’t even negotiate with Dez.

The Cooper trade was a joke; old-school Jerry, overpaying for a talented but questionable WR.

Roy Williams redux.

How can you say Dez is better than him right now with a straight face?

Who we could have signed for free?

2017 Cooper 48 catches, 680 yards, 7 TDS in 14 games, started 12.

2017 Bryant 69, 838, 6 in 16 games, 16 starts

Cooper is in his fourth season; Dez would have been in his ninth.

Dez also had a high target rate while I'm not sure how much Cooper was targeted.

Cooper should be a better fit for what Dak likes: Receivers who can create separation.

I still believe Dez could get the job done for quarterbacks who are comfortable with and can throw the 50/50 balls and back-shoulder fades.

Dez was a great playr when he had a great QB. Amari was a great player when Carr was playing like a pro bowler. hmmmm...........whats the trend here. Our FO still hasn't figured it out.

Dez got the boot because he was not showing up to the off season route running camp.. regardless if he needed it or not it is good to show up and be a good example. Dez was nothing but a distraction, but maybe they will bring him back still and think Dez just needs to learn his lesson a little longer.
