Is Dallas still a top destination?

Its a good question because there are several legit answers

1. If the money is even and you want a cushy gig but no championship or discipline, this is a great destination

2. If the money is even but you want to go where football is the main thing, you avoid this place like the plague

3. If your a rookie like Shadeur and you want to get a massive 2nd contract, and branding, regardless of results you want to come here . Not to mention a career waiting for you in the boof
Well said lol

A certain type of player still thinks of Dallas as an ideal landing spot. The kind of player that doesn't want to get pushed too hard... the kind of player that likes to coast, goof off with teammates, collect a paycheck, then head out to the club, without a care in the world. The kind of player that doesn't give a rip if the Cowboys lose 40-9, as long as his money is guaranteed and as long as he gets Mondays off.

Clearly it isn't! Players seemed to love to be mentioned for the Cowboys, now you see how the Cowboys go about spending, and what smart minded agent would tell their players to sign with Dallas??

What does Dallas have to offer these days to get players back to wanting to be here? There's nothing I see at this moment that says HEY I'm a big free agent I want to be here for several years, I know they'll pay what the market dictates, only for this not to happen and said players go the other way!!

It's like beating a dead horse, maybe one day the Jones family will get their mojo back!! Please give your thoughts
Has not been in quite some time.
At least not for players serious about winning a ring.
Now every player just mentions us for leverage in contract negotiations with other teams.

Yep, playing football is only a part of being a Dallas Cowboy!
You got the podcast
You got the branding
You got the merch deals
I mean these guys don't get paid much and got kids to feed!

It has not been for quite some time.

It is supposed to be 'please give me your thoughts' and not 'I will answer my own question'.

Intelligent agents negotiate the best contract their client desires. An intelligent agent will tell their client to sign with Dallas if the franchise extends them an optimal offer.

That is the single question that the Mad Genius has fumbled an answer for... quite some time.

If by 'mojo' you mean when will the Mad Genius morph back into Wildcatter Jerry Jones, who knows but that would have been a better OP in my opinion.

LOL, that 2nd one had my wife hitting me for waking her up laughing.

Well, I know it's probably different for you folks that are lucky enough to live around Dallas, but for me, living on the other side of the country, if I mention I'm a Cowboy fan people just begin to laugh. I imagine that extends to the players nowadays, too.
Jerry has taken the most respected and celebrated franchise in history and made it into a mockery of a NFL team.

For college players in the draft I think it is. They just want to get selected, get paid and have the pride of being good enough to make the NFL and a famous franchise. And the Cowboys are a top name franchise. Famous once and for a long time; infamous under Jerry Jones. There is likely a very small number of college players who are thinking, "Please, not Dallas" but that is probably true for all NFL teams.

For veteran guys who are top tier guys and have a strong desire to win being a Cowboy has drawbacks. Odds are against making a good playoff run. There are a lot better choices to do that. But that is often outweighed by money and the lack of Texas income tax. Dallas top quality vets are given contract extensions before they become free agents and they are dumb not to take those extensions because of the injury factor if nothing else. If the Cowboys had the cap money and the courage to go after the elite FA guys they would get some of them. Money would trump the low chance of winning big in the playoffs.

.....and don't forget the high contracts for the "Good of the Brotherhood"

Ghandi's got nothing on some of these benevolent players.

Depends on the players’ reason… if he wants a championship ring then no he wants no part of this team. But if all he cares about is putting money in the bank and not worrying about accountability or self respect, then Jerry is the man.

If you're trying to make money it is.

No, there’s ample evidence that Jerry the GM does not prioritize winning over profit. The only hope the Cowboys have in the F.A. market is for players not yet established, or those looking for a last paycheck. Dallas no longer attracts the Deion Sanders-level athletes!!!!

Same here. And the ridicule is getting worse I think. These days I don't really mention the cowboys I mostly will talk about my backup teams.
